anybody know a website or some sort?? i currently have the LG Optimus S and was thinking of switching to this, im not eligible for a discount until oct. 2012 so i can get the sweet deals on most sites

Ebay sells them NIB for $235. That's the best I've seen with no contract. Alternatively, you may be able to find a friend who will "sell" his upgrade to you (i.e. have him buy the phone for free on bestbuy.com, and then sell it to you (for whatever you both agree is fair) before he activates it. I used to do that for friends when I was short on cash.

That said, this phone is definitely not a full price worthy. If you can't get a good price, I would just sit on your Optimus S for awhile longer.

thank you for the help

I also had an Optimus S and went to this phone, bought in new on Ebay for $209 and it will be here in about 3-4 days. Plus that isn't much money if you think about the fact that new it is $350 and after you sell your Optimus on Ebay (given it is in good condition) then the Marquee shoudl technically only cost you about $120 for what I consider a much better phone.

I was in your situation and checked my local Craigslist...several to choose from for $125-$150 when I bought mine. Mine looked like new, and there was another one that said it was new in box for $150, but it was farther to drive and it looks like that one is gone now...

Definitely check craigslist (where I got mine). I would honestly find one with a bad esn for cheap and put your optimus s meid on it and go from there

I agree. Craigslist is an awesome place to find phones. I get all my phones from there.

Just need to keep an eye out on ebay and the like. Seems like you can pick one up new for $200-$250 about anytime on there...used around $150. Been eyeing this phone for awhile as sort of a stop gap...1) have no real need for 4g at the momen so this would allow me a decent phone and be on the $40 SERO plan vs $50, and 2) wanted to save my renewal credit for iPhone 5 or legit LTE phone, so prob late fall untill I use my credit. Anyhow, after weeks of keeping tabs on ebay, finally found open box but new (incl box, paperwork, sealed accessories) clean esn for $150 buy it now. I feel like I took a bit of a gamble since it was priced so much lower then other new marquees, but ultimately received it as advertised.

I'm up for a renewal, and have will be upgrading to $40 SERO-P. Any experiences with obtaining a Marquee from 3rd party (Best Buy, Amazon Wireless, other) for SERO activation? It's $99 on Sprint's own website, but free or near-free elsewhere.

What I've heard so far, is that mail-order works, while attempting to activate anything obtained in-store may cause problems; in any event, upgrade the plan by phone first, via the Employee service number. That sound about right?

Edit: On second thought, I'm seeing a very few examples of success stories, and a lot of problems trying to get SERO upgrades through a 3rd sale.

I'm on SERO-P and bought my wife's marquee through the best buy website with free shipping. No hassles whatsoever.

My one recommendation is to make sure you are upgraded from SERO to SERO-P prior to ordering the phone. Just call Sprint CS and ask to upgrade to SERO-P and then go to the best buy website. Yes, you end up paying a little extra for days of service you didn't use, but it prevents your order from being blocked for not being on a valid plan.

BTW, last I checked best buy was also throwing in a free bluetooth stereo headset with the Marquee. Not a bad deal. Let's just hope the ICS update fixes all the problems with the phone.

Actually this method is VERY YMMV & not highly recommended. Although, there are a few success stories like the one above, it is highly reported that it is not guaranteed to work. Anyone on Sero should order directly from Sprint to avoid most problems or potential issues.

Don't hold your breath for ICS as it is not coming anytime soon for this phone.

I'm not too hopeful about it. Some online sources believe that LG's ICS announcement regarding the Optimus Black implies an update for the Marquee, but that sounds like wishful thinking to me -- I think LG specifically gave the Sprint phone a new, unrelated name for a reason.

I might just get one off Ebay or Craigslist, considering Sprint online is asking $99. I get to avoid signing a new contract, and burning up my upgrade eligibility. That being said, I've been off contract for years without ever using the upgrade subsidy, which means I've been missing out on that benefit.

How exactly does that work?? I'm actually interested in upgrading to a Marquee but my contract just renewed a few months ago. Is it really possible to fool Sprint's database somehow by "convincing" them I'm still using my Optimus S, even though I could be using another Sprint phone with a bad esn?
