I know this may sound strange, but I have been getting really bad data since switching to note 7. It comstantly switches between 3g/4g and I stay in a major city(Houston). Now I am aware of the recall and had plans to exchange before the recall was announced, but obviously that put a halt on my plans. I know the device will get replace but I'm now questioning if it's the device or the service. Reason being is that I had my sim replaced yesterday and used the s7 edge I gave my friend but still experienced painly slow speeds. I don't think I'm a heavy user(average under 30 gigs a month). Would like to know if Verizon has a new policy or if I'm just having service issues with my number.1473175032187.jpg1473175040556.jpg

Moved the Verizon forum to get better traffic / assistance with plans from knowledgeable members :).

Did you receive a shut off letter? Did you try getting back under contract or anything? How much data do you use?

I have been using my phone wireless tethering for my laptop and my kids, plus the xbox and playstation so 150-200G a month usage.

They claimed they sent out a letter, I never recieved one.

They claimed they put a notice in my bill, but my 8/13 bill was (conveniently) switched automatically to paperless billing and I never bothered to look at it online.

They suggested I switch to a 100G plan for $450 a month. yarite

He turned my phone back on, but as of the 14th I have a 8G limit and my bill will be about $40 less a month.

I have the cable company coming out Monday to put in home internet for $34.99 a month.

Since I have a Note 7 under recall I had him re-activate my Note 4 and I'll return my 7 to the store tomorrow. Now when they come back out for purchase I'll be able to get one at a discount by changing to a contract!

So in the end- I'll be paying about the same but verizon will be losing a bunch of money.

Verizon doesn't throttle but I did notice a super slow connection one day . .. Tried restart, didn't matter. Happened for most of the day. I turned the phone off for several hours and it fixed the issue. Perhaps you can try that.

Also if it is only affecting some sites, you can try to use a vpn to see if it helps.

They shut me off today- apparently they're canceling unlimited users.

And now I no longer feel safe again on my unlimited plan.

Did you see the notice on your paperless bill online? I just checked mine and I see where it mentions the new Verizon plans, but it doesn't say anything about me being required to switch to it.

Are you under contract?

Do you have the $29.99 unlimited data package or has it gone up to $49.99?

Have you tried other speed test apps?

Are you using the $30 tether/hotspot add-on?

49.99 unlimited and yes I've used 3 speed test apps including the Netflix one in the play store. Even using my phone I can tell my phone is slow. I can't watch YouTube on 480p without buffering 😣

Hm. It is odd since Verizon doesn't touch unlimited usually. Since your cycle is up soon test it in the same areas after your cycle resets. If it works then there may be some throttling going on.. If not then it just may be a tower issue.

That's what I was thinking. Should know for sure once my cycle starts over.

So good news. I thought I was being throttled so I waited until my billing cycle closed and was still experiencing the same issue. Upset I called Verizon again. Long story short it was actually an app on my phone that was causing my data to run slow. Not sure what app as they had me to put the phone in safe mode and that fixed the issue. Just glad to know that I can enjoy my unlimited plan again with no cap (within reason).
