Anyone else disappointed in the stock sounds and ringtones?

I guess people just look for things to complain about, no matter how insignificant. I find the selection more than enough for my needs and different enough from the same old ringtones.

I always use custom sounds anyway, most from classic video games. Galaga has been my ringtone for as long as I've owned a smartphone.

My notifications are soundbites from Super Mario Bros, and Earthbound.

I love classic vid game sounds.
I am using a Sonic the hedgehog sound clip for ringtone and a Super Mario "one-up" coin sound for notification.

I use Procyon for my default notification, mira for my new texts, and mission impossible theme for my ringtone.

I've been using "ripple" from the HTC sound collection for years and didn't want to change. I just imported all of them to my GNEX

Yea...I didnt like them either. They also seem too soft, light or low for the most part. Not talking about the speaker, I mean the actual sound.

I personally like the sounds that came on the Galaxy Nexus. Granted some of the more "robot" type ones are a bit out there, but many are just fine to use. And, in public, my phone is very distinct and can be recognized over the slew of all the other same sound phones that are out there.

But, in the end you can always customize by using the Zedge app from the market.

This may be a silly question, but how exactly do I copy a mp3 file over from my Mac to the GNex and make it the ringtone? Please help.

Download a file manager. Im using astro and then copy, paster in to desired folder.works like a charm

the google nav voice sounds like a dying robot woman too

I thought this too when I first got my galaxy nexus. However, sometime a couple of weeks ago, there was an update or something to Google Maps. It no longer is using the built-in Text To Speech. It is instead using a very clear, clean, and human sounding voice that I'm guessing it is downloading for it's servers. I lost data briefly once and it fell back to using the built-in voice for a couple of minutes, but then went back to the good voice when I got data back.

Well, yes but that's the beauty of Android.

My notification sound- "GET TO THE CHOPPA!"
my ringtone- "The good old hockey game"

I don't think I ever used a stock RT, or notification on my android. I either make my own RTs from my songs or dl from Zedge (great app, hilarious RTs and notification sounds).
I do the same thing (I never used a stock RT either, it's one reason I didn't get an iPhone). I can entertain myself for awhile just listening to Zedge stuff. Some of the notification sounds work as ringtones and vice versa. Zedge is the s#*t!

From the Getting Started section on Settings, Ringtones:

Zedge has nearly endless ringtone, wallpapers, and notification sounces you can download for free.

? Sounds have to be in the right folder. Connect to your PC as a Disk Drive, create the subdirectories as needed, and copy.
_ ? Ringtones: /media/audio/ringtones
