Anyone else eager to LAUGH at what apple has to offer Sept 12th?

Processor is a major upgrade. Change of architecture better battery smaller chip faster processor by far. Camera is the same sensor but better glass/lowlight. Screen is personal preference. Removable battery u could get a mophie if needed. But my 4s when I had blew every android I've had out of the water in battery.

But you have to admit that the only reason the 4s was better on the battery was because the screen is smaller, it wasn't using LTE and the multitasking is not even close to Android.

It's like when I was a Crackberry user. They would brag the BB has way better battery than Android and iOS. What they failed to realize was the latest phone at the time was the Torch 9800 and that thing had specs that would have have been impressive or at least respectable in 2004.

One thing that is funny about the September 12 announcement is how Cook did the presentation. It appears that he was doing a powerpoint presentation. Something that Jobs hated. I think he considered the message or the person needing to make a powerpoint presentation as having failed in achieving whatever their goal was in making that presentation.

Lol. My wife still has that phone it put the pain in hurting.

processor, minor improvement
camera, the same
os, marginal
screen, improved, but still way behind in size
nfc?
removable battery?
width and weight? not much of a change there
show me a significant improvement

Processor: From Cortex A9 to heavily customized version of the Cortext A15.

Screen: irrelevant. Size should be a personal preference, but then again you're the same guy that thinks the Rezound is significantly better than the DROID 4G LTE because it has a 4.3inch HD screen vs. the 4 inch qHD screen on the DINC4G.

Removable battery: Last I checked, this wasn't a standard in Android. Motorola and HTC are going to non-user removable on some/most of their new phones.

Width and weight: So uhh. It's supposed to get wider? And it's ligher than the phone it replaces.

NFC is the only significant hardware feature missing.

I think you're taking his post out of context. I read his post comparing the old to the new phone and looking for what he considers a significant upgrade, not something that is to "match" Android per se, outside of maybe saying the screen size is still way behind. And yeah, non-removable batteries have been implemented in a number of Android phones. My co-worker couldn't believe his Evo had a removable battery but his new 4G one doesn't. He was trying to pry off the back and came to me, was pretty funny. I didn't know either but then Googled it and found this out.

Either way, the battery improvement in the new iPhone 5 is significant over the iPhone 4S. In Engadget's battery rundown test, it was just ten minutes shy of the mark set by the DROID RAZR MAXX.

The thing is that the Galaxy S3 is better than the iPhone 5 in almost every respect, minus battery life and ecosystem. The MAJOR problem with the iPhone 5 is iOS 6, and the lack of any exclusive features over previous iPhones. iOS 6 is, without a doubt, the most pathetic update to iOS yet. Sure the 4S only had Siri, but at least ONLY the 4S had Siri. There's nothing special for the 5.

How do u figure? I'd take battery life, build quality, screen, the processor/graphics of the iphone. The only thing that I think the same beats the iPhone is having removable battery which is irrelavent if engadgets battery life tests prove to be true. And it has an SD card. Other than the screen is more accurate with colors and really a preference between LCD/samoled. Build quality hands down to the iPhone. The processor/graphics is better in the iPhone. U sound almost as bad about android as most of this forums claims apple (isheep) are. Yes android is more open and customisable does that mean its better? No does the person who doesn't root/com care about that no. I for one leave my phone pretty stock don't use much widgets and am still with android for my own reasons. Because iOS is so simple does that mean its worse? No. Its easy to use does just about everything 99% of smart phone users want it to do and most of the stock apps work without a hiccup. Look at the good and bad of both before u start saying one is better than the other or vice versa.

How about just the fact that you can do dozens more things on Android? On Android I can put a shortcut to a PDF, .Doc, website, or anything really right on my homescreen. My wife has the bus schedule as a pdf shortcut on her Atrix, she'd always complained she couldn't do that with her iPhone. You can also play nearly ANY video or audio format without having to convert it, but I guess that isn't important right? I can also carry files from home to work on the SD memory card as a flash drive, never could do that with my iPhone.

Do we really need to keep rehashing this BS? If you love the iPhone that much Ryan, sell your Samsung phone and get one, move over to the iPhone forums, and live in bliss ;) Stop arguing with us poor idiots that don't know any better how much more awesome the iPhone is.

...so?

That proves the point others have made in this thread. The iPhone clearly didn't work for you since it required iTunes. That's fine. Its not a defect, or somehow makes the iPhone inferior. Its a condition of using it, which is why it didn't work for you.

The same exact argument could be made for Android everytime an Apple fan says that Android doesn't always work.

Whoa hold on now... where did I ever say the S3 beat the iphone 5 in every category? Nowhere did I say that. I'll even submit the iPhone 5will most likely have a better battery life in real world comparative use to our S3. I will also agree it overall is easier to use out of the box whereas with the S3 I needed to replace some of the built in apps. I also personally feel the iphones video conferencing will work better and headache f ee compared to the S3, of which is appears Skype (at least for me) was fixed with the latest update.

I will not lie lot for the sake of my Android preference and will point out iPhone advantages with no hesitation when required. But sometimes when you, Ry, and JHBThree (the quintessential iphone champions of this forum) argue in defense of the iphone you guys sure ignore every major benefit to android.

Well about 5 posts ago u said the galaxy s3 is better than the iPhone 5 in every aspect other than battery life and eco system. I don't ignore benefits of Android it can do a whole lot more than iOS for sure I own and use a galaxy note on a regular basis. But when people are complaining o wow look at the minimal upgrades bla bla bla like android doesn't do the same thing? Razr, razr maxx, razr HD. Wow ya those all must be huge upgrades. O wait they are the same minimal upgrades that u guys are praising on android and and downplaying on iOS. The iPhone does a lot of things right and just because u don't like the os doesn't mean the phone is mere crap compared to most high end android phones out there. Just because u don't like a 4 inches screen doesn't mean the iPhone doesn't have one of if not the best screens available. Same for quality/fit finish of the phone. Great camera great hardware.I can admit those things and still say that iOS isn't for me. I can also admit android flaws when I see them. A big one for me is battery life and smoothness of the device. Minus the nexus on 4.1 because that really does close the gap to ios in my opinion

Sorry but it's really only Motorola doing that and google has indicated they are done producing low-mid range devices.

The processor is all new.

The camera is all new.

The os has significant improvements.

Size isn't everything. If that's the way you're measuring if a handset is improved, you might as well bow out of this conversation now.

Who cares about nfc? I haven't used it once on my s3.

Again, who cares about removable? It wasn't ever a possibility, so there's no point in bringing it up.

Again with the size? Bigger does not equal better, or significant.

Going by the metric you yourself used, the 5 is a significant update.

the ip5 processor and gpu is a MAJOR upgrade no matter what platform you prefer and i dont know if overclocking a jailbroken iphone is possible, itl be a monster if it can be overclocked a couple of 0.x stably and fair play to apple for making their own core..
i thnk though that it comes down to screen-size and O/S (and unfortunatly image/snobbery)
im an andioid fanboy and i couldnt use a 4" screen without glasses so the choice for me would be HTC ONE X or sIII... ip5 wouldnt even register in my decision.
i think we should respect apples hardware and maybe even the apps but we're android people; we wana make our phones unique, we love how apps can be so integrated with eachother, etc.
us and apple are now in a situation where we're waiting for the dev's to make use of the sheer power of our devices (hope we dont have fragmentation between the international and US s3, lightflow for example).
im sure iOs fans will love the ip5, what i DONT understand is people who cant decide weather to get ip5 or s3!!!
its should be a choice between Android and iOs!!
..i suppose the general public dont really think of it that way though.
it would help if Samsung stopped distancing itself from android in its marketing (same as HTC)
they should be proud to be android based and having Play Store i think.
i really should be a nexus owner eh? sorry for the rant but wen people go out to buy a computer, they already know if they want windows or mac lol.,... am i wrong?

global s3, UK. Ask me anything and ill reply even if its just an intelligent (or crazy) guess ;)

@ JHBThree - I'll tell you who cares about a removable battery, the hundreds of attorneys I support. When they're in the middle of a deposition and the phone battery dies they like the option to swap it out and keep receiving firm emails. Even with the long life of the blackberry some of our power users would carry two spare batteries. Just because you don't need to function the same way in a professional environment doesn't mean others don't.

The iphone 5 is not a big improvement sorry. It just isn't. I do think apple will not make the leaps and bounds now that Steve Jobs is gone (r.i.p.), like him or hate him (or apple as it relates) the man was good for technology.
