Thats why I get a case ALWAYS...did your son have a case?

A case alone may not save the glass, a tempered glass would thought. These phones are too expensive to be used naked. With or without insurance.

Asurion certainly will carry them, I would give it another week or two. It is normal for them to not have access to a brand new device.

Update: as of today asurion said the S8 in black will be on backorder for 3 to 7 days now. Kinda disappointed to be paying insurance to have to wait so long.

Asurion now offers in home screen replacement for the device at $75, a verizon rep mentioned it to me the other day.

I doubt they cover the s8. I know they didn't cover the s7edge for this. That's be sweet if the covered the s8 though

Always use cases after a $200 lesson in 2012. Asphalt won, cc lost. However the reviews for screen protectors (from cheap to expensive) have shown they are good for scratch resistance(keys in pocket/purse etc). Not so much at preventing cracks when dropped or stressed. Maybe am missing something there?

Hope the op gets a glass replacement soon & posts where to go if ever needed...

You are far better off using Samsungs Premium Care service. Im not sure which version of Verizon insurance you have but if its a single "Total Mobile Protection" plan you're paying $11/mo for 3 claims a year with a $149 deductible. With Samsung you pay $11.99/mo for 3 claims per year and a $99 deductible. Plus the first month is free which makes up the cost difference spent over the first year. You also get next day shipping for your replacement direct from Samsung.

You could have a new phone tomorrow.

yeah there is no luck in getting it replaced. i work for a computer repair and cell phone shop. someone came in today with a cracked one. neither one of my vendors had the part in stock and when i found it on ebay the part itself was 500 lol. just go through insurance because the repair prices will not be cheap anytime soon. i just did an s7 edge today and that repair is still 400

Im going to look into that also. I'm paying 9$ a month for the equipment coverage. Might drop them if possible.

It is ridiculous. guess cause it's a new device. They offered a S7 edge loner. Will take 3-7 days to get the S8. But it's not that bad of a crack and my son don't mind it.

Tempered glass screen protectors will protect against cracks from a regular drop.
