He had a Spigen case and screen protector
I've used plenty of good ones, not just on a curved screen. I'm currently using one sold at 5 below. It's soft so fits nicely and is claimed to be tougher than tempered glass. Not so sure. I might just lay it on a cheap smartphone and do the hammer test myself. If anyone can design and release a tempered glass that's worth a poot we will be in business. Both that I have tried havent been worth...
Update: as of today asurion said the S8 in black will be on backorder for 3 to 7 days now. Kinda disappointed to be paying insurance to have to wait so long.
My son dropped and cracked his S8. No luck with trying a claim with Verizons asurion. They don't carry the S8. Anyone else have to get a display or replacement device yet?
It offering advice on how to get it replaced...
What do you people do if you break a camera? TV in the home? Window? Accidental damage can be added to home contents insurance here (Australia). Sure you pay a little more in your premium but when I was away and dropped my Nikon camera I paid I think $100 and insurance covered the rest. A friend's child recently sat on his iPad, cracking the screen, and his insurance said NOT to replace screen but to get a new iPad because of inherent problems down the track with sealed devices that have been "unsealed" for repairs. For that reason I would recommend against screen replacement but I guess if you have to pay yourself then that's the cheaper option.
It's my understanding (I could be wrong so help me out) that Asurion covers a lost or stolen phone as well as a broken phone. Does the Samsung plan do that? I'm more likely to lose my phone or have it stolen than break it.
I didn't know that. The thing I hate about Asurion is it is so hard to get hold of customer support. They want you to do everything on your computer. If you only have a question and not a claim it is difficult to get through to them. Still I would think a theft reported the day it happened would get paid. Basically a lost phone IS a stolen phone unless it falls into the ocean. Anybody who finds your phone can easily get in touch if you have that info on lockscreen. I could also use google to find a phone that was left on unless someone took it and shut it off. I once did that and found my phone in the auditorium I left it the next day.Samsung only covers damage, no loss or theft. Keep in mind, Asurion has some very sneaky ways to deny a lost or stolen phone claim based on when you report it and where you say the device was. Lots of interesting reads on that topic.

Did the thief just say here ya go sorry I stole it?Ive read reports of Asurion denying claims because the phone was in a purse at the persons feet instead of on the persons body. I think it was CNET who did a big report on the insurance companies and some of their ridiculous measures to deny a claim. I prefer to stick with the manufacturer for insurance and warranties.
I've had my phone stolen once a few years ago. I got it back within an hour by using Google tracking. Its amazing how fast someone will comply when you show up at their house. Since I dont do bars and such I really dont worry too much about that. Losing my phone would be like losing my wallet, the chance is very slim.

It's great you got it back. I'd be afraid he'd pull a knife or something. Now I'm apparently paying for Asurion for nothing I guess. I wanted the loss theft protection. If I lose my phone by definition I put it down or it fell out of pouch or whatever so my story might very well fail whatever "test" they use to determine whether to give me a used phone in return.Sorry not google, it was my find my iphone.
No, he said he found it and was trying to figure out who to call to return it. He "found" it on my work station at Best Buy when I worked there.
