Anyone else upgrade to a DX from the dINC?

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this one!!

If you are flamed I'm sure it has noting to do with the all-bold typeface you used to scream your opinion out at the viewer...

@the OP: There are a lot of things I like about Sense too (although I didn't own an HTC phone) so I just popped on Launcher Pro Plus and Beautiful Widgets to get 85% of the experience that was important to me. I don't care about the two stock email apps as I use droidmail (which has copy and paste), and if the SMS system ever gets to me I'll just grab Handcent, or maybe try out the ported Samsung streettext one.

That said...if you don't care about 3d games or watching movies/taking pictures or other uses of the GPU or larger screen...there's not really a compelling reason to upgrade if you were already happy IMO.

He's just PUMPED!!!!

:)

Still, I use a lot of media so I would still take the X over Inc but its going to differ for people.

Overall, I'm glad i didn't dump the Dinc for the X, I haven't been impressed with anything about it other than the sheer size of the screen.
If I were to dump the dinc, it would be for the Samsung Galaxy S series phone as I have played with the droid X and the Samsung Captivate already. The samsung is a much better built(no cheap wiggly buttons or washed out screen) , sytlish & working phone than the X IMHO.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this one!!

I agree with your comment on the buttons, but what's your problem with the screen? I love looking at my screen. Even at the lowest brightness setting, the screen looks great.

EDIT: BTW I love the digital radio tuner in your QRZ shack picture

Im actually taking my X back today. Sticking with the Inc until I see some actual legit updates to the X. Too many issues too early. Love the size and look but cant deal with the many issues mines having.

I was actually thinking of making a move to the droid x from the dinc only because of the battery. When my dinc sits (with nothing running in the background) I end up with 50% battery by about 5 pm. Not to mention, the dinc never fully charges (or charges then kicks over to battery) so when I take it off the charger in the morning I'm starting with 90%.

I love the dinc, but the battery is completely unacceptable. Sure I know I can buy upgraded batteries, but when I spend this much for a phone I shouldn't be required to purchase a battery to make it through the day.

My friends with the X say they make it two days at times without recharging.

I think the battery life and the visibility of the screen in sunlight is enough to make the Droid X better than the Incredible.

Oh yeah, and the fact that it's not made by HTC. That adds ten points and about 2 more years of usability lol. I cant think of one HTC device that hasn't had glaring issues.

I moved from an Incredible (just can't get used to saying/typing Dinc) to an X. The Incredible was my first experience with Android experience and Sense UI. After moving to the X, I had some Sense UI withdrawals. I, too, liked some of the widgets better, as well as the ability to create multiple scenes. After a few weeks with the X, I've pretty much adjusted to having something closer to stock Android. Sure, some of the MOTO widgets could be better, or more refined, but with so many launchers and widgets in the Market, I have come to appreciate the flexibility. It sounds like the addition of Froyo will bring some improvements to speed and functionality.

I agree with Ottscay, though. If you like the Incredible, stick with it. I don't think you can go wrong with either, but as I said in my review of the X--it's not for everyone. And that's ok.

Hmm..well the sunlight issues is because it's OLED which is inherently worse than LCD when viewed outside..

I'm just not digging the software.. now that I see the MM dock is amazing, I'll stick with it for a little bit..

I think you'll be sorry you did that instead of just trying the 2150mah battery, it last ridicoulousy long compared to the wimpy 1300mah factory one.
Two days on the X is definetely not the norm, my stock battery lasted longer in the Dinc than my father in law's X, so the grass isn't always greener...
Sorry about the caps lock in the earlier post, I guess I was pumped up, LOL !!

Hello! Thanks for the comments on the shack pics, always nice to meet another ham brother!

My gripe with the screen was when we did side by side video and picture testing with the Captivate -vs- Incredible -vs- Droid X
The LCD screen looked washed out to us in comparison to the OLED screens most notably in the Samsung Captivate during video testing. I understand it's LCD is a little better in the bright sunlight but I still haven't found a screen brighter than the sun..Hi Hi !!:D

I switched from the Inc to the Droid X and I'm not going back. I love the screen size which is the main reason why I went with it.

Switch

In a way, I think everyone should go to the store to make the determation to switch or not. I personally like the large screen. I think it has the tools to be an iphone competitor. I just wish they stuck a front facing camera on it.

As for the physical buttons, I don't find them flimsy. In fact, I prefer them to the capacitive, buttons because when I typed on the Incredible in landscape mode, my fingers would often touch one of capacitive buttons and go into a different screen. It drove me nuts. Speaking of typing...there is a world of difference typing on the X then the Incredible.

What I hate most about these virtual KB's that I never had a problem with on the iPhone for some reason is the period button to the right of the spacebar.. i CONSTANTLY hit it and my sentences.usually.appear.like.this

super annoying.

... Also, I'm not proud to say it because it shouldn't matter, but the Inc looked too much like an iDevice to me.

I know the feeling. I got to the point of being  at all the people who saw the Incredible and were like, "Oh. Hey. Is that an iPhone?" No!

There's no mistaking the X for an iPhone. I was in Detroit for a wedding, I whipped out my X to add someone's contact info. A guy with an iPhone could barely hide his curiosity. Finally he said, "Wow, that's huge! What's that?"

Why, it's an X!

Exactly.

We'll have to upgrade to the Droid Y for the front-facing camera. It'll probably be out by Christmas! :p

Me,I upgraded from the Inc. to the X. When I first got it I wondered why,but now that I have mine customized to my taste,I love it. Big Screen.Swipe. What more could you want. Downfall battery but not near as bad as the INC.

I have the Incredible. I am still in my 30 days so I ordered a X yesterday. My main reason for upgrading is Facebook for sense, It doesn't work on my phone just like it doesn't for a lot of other people. I also figure having the big screen will be much nicer.
