Anyone have any suggestions how I can get my hands on an Evo?

Well mine was shipped ground so I dont think its gonna require a signature.... it would say on the ups site "signature required" i think

At my house UPS usually just leaves it at the door and rings the door bell and walk away.

I never got the email from Art but I called that number and they gave me the order number. Thats all I really care about.. that the phone is ordered and I know that I will get it soon !! I've been reading that this shortage can possibly last 6 months...
 
if you can get ur order number from sprint, and then when you have a tracking number from UPS, you can on ups's website and put special instructions on your order. Like leave at neighbors house. But no i do not beleive they require signuature. Unless sprint has changed their policy in the last year and a half. I have never had to sign for sprint.

As I suspected, calling Sprint to get my order number was 10 minutes I won't get back. I told her 5 times that I was a new customer and did not have an account yet, but she kept asking me for my PIN. When I told her that I didn't have a PIN, she asked me for my security question. I told her that I couldn't have a security question if I had never set up an account. She then asked me again for the PIN. Three minutes later I was able to extract myself from the call.

It's always this way for me.
 
So are there any requirements for ordering through Art?? My situation is I am a longtime Sprint customer(always pay my bill on time) with multiple lines and a Simply Everything family plan. One of my lines is ready for an upgrade and I've been everywhere trying to get an EVO with no luck

I think his only requirements are either your a new customer or an existing customer who is upgrade eligible.

I dont know why you are having these issues, I AM A NEW CUSTOMER TOO... im porting frmo AT&T and Art set up a pin and security question while i was on the phone. Usually he uses mm/dd/yy of your bday so my (totally made up) pin for example would be 01/01/81

That's good information. Art didn't mention anything about a PIN or a security question when I talked to him. To be fair he wasn't in the office and was taking all of my info down on paper to be input later. He's the last person I want to be bothering with my impatience, so I haven't called him to ask about the confirmation number. If he did set up an account with a PIN and question, that would explain Sprint's insistence that I produce the information. Either way, my phone won't get here any faster if I can check the tracking number.
 
Dont be silly, Art is really cool he doesnt get apid unless we are happy customers so give him a shout tomorrow and im sure he can give u your order number
 
Just got off the phone with Art and have to agree with Donna. Very professional and friendly. Just waiting for confirmation that he can order it for me. Fingers crossed!!
 
FWIW, when my replacement HD2 from T-Mobile came via UPS, my driver told me that when it comes to cell phone deliveries, they always require a signature. There are too many variables that can go wrong, or it can get stolen when just left at the front door. So a signature is required for CMA purposes.
 
I don't know, I live in a quiet neighborhood and my UPS guys knows im always buying something so he just leaves it on the porch.... (theres a screen door) i think its more case by case ya know....

I know when I bought my Louis Vuitton on the ups site it said signature required
 
I'm still calling Sprint stores seeing if they are getting any. They keep telling me this week they should get some EVOs this week. I'm hoping yes!
 
Keep fighting the fight DWD, I was doing that for two and a half weeks before I gave Art a call and kept hearing that Saaaaaaaaaaammmmeee story. Hey if i didnt call him my EVO wouldnt be in transit right now. :)

well they told me this week they would get some in. I'm on a blackberry i bought that i would need to return to them before i am able to order another phone i believe.

I left a note for the ups person to leave the package. I live in a quiet neighborhood and they are constantly delivering stuff to me.
 
Ordered 2 EVOs through Art last week and haven't heard anything more from him. I've found it a bit hard to get him to respond to text messages - I know he's a busy man, but I am starting to get a bit ansty. My wife's phone just died and I let her borrow mine - I'm on day 2 without a phone and I'm suffering serious withdrawl.
