Art told me a few minutes ago it would be $299 and then a mail in rebate. I HATE mail in rebates as the last one from Sprint took nearly 3 months to get.
Anyone have any suggestions how I can get my hands on an Evo?

That happen to me about 2 weeks ago when I decided on getting the Sprint EVO. I live in the Wash DC area and all the stores in the 20 miles radius were out of the EVO. I figured that I would call a Sprint Store that is less popular and out in no where. It worked. The store was 35 miles outside of DC and they had 5 EVOs in stock. I went out there and got me one for $200 (after $100 mail-in rebate and $150 immediate rebate). It's much better than having to pay $500+ for one on Craigslist or Ebay.
Just got off the phone with Art who processed my order. THANK YOU to whoever posted his information! Very nice guy! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 
I think you should call sprint's customer service and check your order status. If it's been shipped, they'll tell you your tracking num. If not, that's good to know too. Either way, can't hurt.
For the record...Art rocks!!! Called him last Monday after being told by every store in Honolulu to give up and get an Epic because it would be months before I could get an Evo....got it today....yeah baby!!!!

He said mine would probably be here by next Tuesday, but could take longer. This is worse than it was waiting for the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause, Tooth Fairy and my birthday combined.
I went to a Sprint store here in town (Summerville, SC) and they wanted to put me on a 25+ person waiting list, after they asked if it was a new line of service or upgrade (mine was an upgrade). Went to Best Buy and they said their warehouse was out, but called a few Best Buy Mobile stores and found a store with three in stock. The rep had them put one aside for me and I walked out same day. Best Buy does not do rebates so the phone was only $200! Best Buy has my future business! Walked out same day with all contacts transferred and Evo working great!
How long has everyone waited that have ordered through Art? I'm talking from the time you order from him till the time you receive your phone.
I'm trying to decide if waiting for Best Buy to ever get their shipment in is better and avoid the MIR, or order from Art and deal with the mail in rebate.

Funny story about the Evo
As many of you may know me and many others got our Evo's from Art already.
So go into the Sprint store on Saturday so they can transfer all my contacts from my bb to my Evo. The lady working there says "Oh my god, where did you get that phone ?" I told her a friend of mine (Art) ordered it for me he works for Sprint. She says to me "Can he order me one ?". So I start busting up laughing, she says "why are you laughing", I told her I can't believe that you asked me to help you order one, and you work for sprint.
I just thought it was most funniest and surprising thing in the world. I can't believe that even sprint employees are having hard time buying this phone.

You LUCKY dog! I ordered yesterday, and the earliest mine will arrive is next Tuesday. I'm secretly wishing yours comes after mine.
