Anyone have any suggestions how I can get my hands on an Evo?

Misery loves company though, right? It's good to have virtual company to gauge our own progress against. Art told me that he placed 14 orders on Monday and they all shipped Tuesday. Of course, that could have been the entire remainder of available inventory....

It sure does. I placed my order with Art on Monday - it has not shipped.

Yeah, he told me the same thing. I sure hope the ones he placed Tuesday ship soon! He told me I may get my by Friday, but now I seriously doubt it as that would be tomorrow and according to Sprint's order tracking it's still in processing.

I'm guessing we won't see any update until later on today,, even IF they did ship, they have to create the shipping info then who knows how long it takes Sprint to update the order status site. But on a good note, our order status doesn't say BACK ORDERED!! Yes it's nice to share our excitement/misery with fellow members,, keeps us some what sane I guess...LOL.

Nope,, I figure he won't see anything more than we are on Sprint's order status site, plus I hate to bug him knowing he is one busy guy!! But if someone does call him, it would be interesting to see what you find out.

P.S. On a good note, I just received my EVO case in the mail, now I just need my EVO..lol. Took this with my Bold 9650, can't wait to try out the 8mp camera on the EVO!!!!

Don't want to make you as miserable as I am, but I called order support yesterday over the phone and they confirmed that my EVO is on backorder and they couldn't provide me on any times. The Sprint site will not display that it's on backorder. It will just say that your order is processing. I ordered with Art late Monday afternoon.

That sucks,,,, but the guy I talked to this morning at Sprint said they just got a shipment in, so maybe that's good news? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.... hopefully something happens soon.
 
I sure hope it doesn't take 2-3 weeks. My local Best Buy can get them in quicker than that and I am still on their wait list 1 week later. I ordered it through Art because everyone who has been ordering from him has been getting them within 1-1.5 weeks.

Yep, I just called order status and was told it was on back order per a note yesterday on my order. At first he said 12-15 business days, then put me on hold. Then he came back and said they are getting a shipment in either today or tomorrow and that hopefully mine would be in that bunch.

So, what type of phone are you using now? I'm using a BlackBerry Tour and I'm starting to despise it every time I pick it up.

I'm using a Samsung Moment and it sucks. It's the second one I've had since it came out in November due to issues with the device including random rebooting, call dropping, sluggishness, CDMA radio lockup especially when turning off Wifi, etc. My wife had one as well and after threatening to leave Sprint and going through two supervisors with customer retention, they agreed to reset our upgrade date to allow us to get new phones. She got the Lotus Elite and I'm getting the Evo 4G (hopefully!). :)
 
We got the Lotus Elite on another one of my lines about a month ago. It's a pretty good chick phone. But, would never be enough phone for me. I've been using the BlackBerry Tour and BlackBerry Storm since they came out. I feel bad for ditching BlackBerry, but I'm sure the guilt will quickly go away when I get my EVO.
 
Thanks for checking in on that, neutron. The rollercoaster ride continues. I've always maintained that the 'wanting" is more rewarding than the "having" but I'm not sure on this one.

What are we going to talk about next? "Why is my FM reception so bad?" "How do I root this thing w/o backdating to 2.1 first?" Maybe some of these things will be fixed by the time our phones arrive....

No problem! I was getting disappointed when he first said 12-15 business days but he wanted to put me on hold again to check something, and at first said that they were getting another shipment in from HTC next week then said the 26th or 27th and said hopefully mine is in that batch.
 
Ordered yesterday (8/25) from Art. Checked my order status today and it says "Your order is being processed."

I have had my evo for a week now, and the only thing I really miss about bb is the fact that I would treat that phone really rough. BB's are really well built machines I dropped that thing so many time and every time the back cover and battery would fly out but the phone always worked perfectly.

Im scared to drop my evo because I dont use any kind of case. I like my phones in their original form without adding bulky stuff to it.
 
Out of boredom/evilness, I chatted with Sprint again (did yesterday) to see if they rcv'd any EVOs today. I basically stated I was told a shipment would be in today/tomm and wanted to know if my EVO was backordered. The rep came back and stated the order was placed on 8/24 - really was 8/23 - and that I would have the phone in less than 3 days. This news was too good to be true, so I pushed further. I said ohhhh so they are no longer backordered then? He didn't respond for a bit and then stated that he just checked and they are backordered. I said so the 3 days is now out of play? He said yes. BOOOOOOOOO
