anyone mad about the razrmaxx?

It continues to amaze me that people feel that they have to put down other's choices of phone in order to justify their own. I usually like the Android Central forums because MOST of the posters are nice, rational, educated consumers that share with the rest of us things that are going on with Android or with their personal choice of phone. I must be WAY behind the power curve because I bought a Red Dinc 2 (6 mos. old phone) with ancient technology (only 1 GB ram on board, 2nd Gen 1 GHz Single Core Snapdragon processor, 768 MB Ram, Gingerbread 2.3.5, Sense 2.x and only and 8 GB mSD card). It was free on contract over Thanksgiving 2011, may or may not get ICS. In case you're interested I've been purchasing, building, helping friends with computers and tech since 1983 (CPM and MS-DOS 2.0), have written professionally (which means I've been paid) for computing magazines and still love tech. I bought the Dinc 2 because it was the right size and feel (for me, 4.0" is still the max size I feel confortable carrying around) the Razr, Rezound and Nexus are all very nice phones but they were all too big. I really wanted to like (love) one of the new toys - I couldn't. For now, I would consider myself a light user and my Dinc 2 does great without any power saving tricks (3G, Bluetooth and WiFi are left on all day), call quality is good, not great and while I would like ICS it doesn't matter to me whether it gets it or not. About the only real annoyance is the bloatware - while ideally I would like to uninstall it just hiding it would be fine. I downloaded tons of Apps during the Google sale, don't use most of them and will probably start paring down the apps at some time in the future. The WVGA screen looks fine (maybe higher res would be better when reading/writing e-mails or stories) and I very happy with the phone. I never get upset about new tech because it's ALWAYS been this way (TVs, computers, phones, etc) - WHATEVER YOU BUY TODAY WILL BE FASTER, CHEAPER, BETTER IN 3 MONTHS OR LESS. Buy when you need, find something that fits your needs for the period of time you need it for and be happy. If not, you will always be unhappy in life. JMHO and YMMMV.

sounds to me more like you're mad that you didn't wait for the GN :D

Bought my Razr the day before Thanksgiving and had until last Sunday to return or exchange it. Still have it.

But this is exactly what I'm talking about. Why would anyone make that statement when most Razr owners had the same deadline to trade/exchange I had, yet kept it? Why the elitist attitude among GN owners?

what elitist attitude? did you bother to read the post i was responding to, before taking my quote out of context?

It appears Woz prefers the Razr over the GN too, lol!

You're right, its no big deal. All the pissing contest stuff is kinda immature to be honest. All I ask you to do is look back over yours and the other guy's post in this thread....look at it from outside yourself....

And ask yourself why this thread took the turn it did. Or was that the intention for starting this thread....

read my initial posts. my intentions are quiet clear.

My first post -- im happy with my GSM RAZR. I bought this knowing that the GSM MAXX might come out in a month or two. I dont mind. I love the form factor and I have chargers everywhere anyway. Battery life is decent with only HSPA to connect to anyway..

yep, they'll have gingerbread, crappy screen resolution, and motoblur to make them lag
.

Um the razr has no lag.. it has features no other phone offers and crappy screen? I sure hope you have the best tv money can buy at home because your calling a screen crappy because its not what "HD" I'd rather have a finished OS then to have a new one that flat out is not finished .. the Razr was voted best phone by the editors of this site for a reason!

I came to the Droid family with the purchase of the Motorola X. Coming from a BlackBerry Storm it was a welcomed change. I kept the X for a little bit over a year and purchased a Bionic off contract so I could get LTE. I bought it with the sole intention of purchasing the RAZR when it became available. I am upset about this RAZR MAXX thing, but I am not sure if I will purchase that. I do ride a motorcycle and when I go out on my bike I go out all day with no battery charger avail. The X faired okay with Juice Defender but my RAZR will only last about 8 hours if I don't use it even with Juice Defender on. So I might purchase the MAXX as well.

But on an unrelated note, it may be my last Motorola purchase if the Intel chips aren't awesome out the box.

The one thing that I have noticed about my RAZR is that after a few days the unlock screen feature does get really laggy. I need to reset the phone to get this to fix itself.

Then the G Nex in comparison is a wash. When my battery got low...the lock screen would get stuck on my G Nex. I would swipe, the lock would move, but it would stay on the lock screen. There were some other lil quirks me and some users saw on the G Nex when the battery was low.

But you wont hear none of the shortcoming of ICS or the G Nex from some folks.

Well that's sad. On the last part.

If that is what you think, you are missing quite a few threads and comments from numerous people. About the only difference is some folks understand that with most any new phone using a brand new os, there are going to be problems.

Look at the bright side. At least whenever Motorola gets around to updating the Razr with ICS, many of the bugs will have been dealt with.

I don't understand the anger at this. It's just a bigger battery, nothing else. I'm still within my return period and have no intention of trading my Razr in for the Maxx.

Companies release new and upgraded products all of the time. This is no DIFFERENT.

I wish people would stop getting up in arms over a PHONE! It's just a PHONE!

I just love that you sent this with a DROID RAZR

Rezound sucks and that's a Fact. Its got "Beats" that's nuff said. However i will say i love how the blacks can turn into light grays without adjusting any settings. You just need to move your phone 4 deg in any angle lol

I'm serious to see how the razr maxx in a case carry's. I know the razr without one its awesome cant feel it and in one you can feel it but its still east to keep in your pocket.

Best screen out there according to several reviewers, and to real world people that actually compare them. And like I said earlier, better: camera, speakerphone, call quality, GPS, build, etc.
Just look at the forums as to how many people have returned their GN or razr for the Resound. This phone is not even laggy with Sense!

I don't understand why you're saying this. Are you saying it because that's at the end of his post? Tapatalk does that automatically.

Yeah, I don't get why he said that either, but your guess is probably correct.

orly? you know how much i like my GN and how it performs? you should play the lottery

Just stating the facts dude... I looked at both phones and made the choice at the Verizon store. The only thing I miss is ICS. When it comes to paying over 200 dollars for a phone it better be made out of metal and Kevlar as far as I am concerned and have the best hardware. I'm sorry but the GN simply fell short of my expectations for a Google flagship. They should have partnered up with Motorola -- the cutting edge of the Android market... The Droid in the word Android.
