Just a quick note.

On android you can install any apps through .apk, files without having the need to root or jailbreak whatsoever. Just go to setting and uncheck.check enable install from unknown sources.

Thats why for android you have multiple market for app and game, amazon, appbrain, htchub, samsung app etc. You can also install individual file downloaded. The only drawback of not using google play is that they will not be auto updated.

While true that apps will install this way, some do need root access to function.

As another note on visual voice mail...Even switching between iphones I have usually had to put in a call to At&t to get it to switch over. Something about the provisioning. About a ten min call. Had to do the same thing for my wife going from 3GS to GS 2... At&t messenger has worked just as well as vvm on the iphone on GS2 and also gives speech to text, as do the other apps suggested. There a bunch of apps that do this well on Android.

I am close to pulling the trigger at Newegg for the Global One X 32GB@$619. Still deciding on the Canadian unlocked version, with LTE. I think I need 32GB a lot more then I need anything faster then Hspa+. More concerned with the resale value.

Though the Tegra3 version has worse battery life, I think I can trust Nvidia to sort it out with updates. They have always been fantastic on their GPU driver updates.

Any one with the Global(Icebike?) confirm I can get a day out of it? I hear the Krait is getting 2 days.
Thanks

There is no evidence that tegra-3 has worse battery life. For some types of tasks it in slightly slower, but nobody has measured battery life under comparable conditions.

yes there has been reviews done comparing both devices check engadget and just about every tech blog and podcast out there and they all say the S4 gets better battery life vs the tegra 3 just type it in your search.

Returned mine. Just not ready to part with my iOS yet.

Camera was great, speed fantastic, just need some more polishing.

I'll try it again later.

After 1-2 days I definitely was ready to declare my one X the worse idea ever. Apps weren't up to par, and the camera pictures were too saturated. Then I gave it more time and I realized its not soo bad, but in fact the screen size is way better at 4.7", swiftly works better than any onscreen keyboard imo.

The learning curve is definitely steeper and the tight integration with Google services backfired for me so it felt like the phone was just being uncooperative right off the bat. After almost 2 weeks now I actually prefer communicating through my one X.

On a side note, I still have my 4s on my personal line, so far I'm using this one X mostly for work.

To be honest, I'm still on the fence. I think, yes his might sound weird, but, I liked my Skyrocket better. Not sure why exactly yet...

I can tell you why exactly....because the Skyrocket is a better device. Besides not coming with ICS out of the box and the incredible LCD screen, the Skyrocket has the advantage. Not only do you get the awesome dual core running @ 1.5Ghz, Super Amoled plus screen @ 4.5", and Wireless N, you also get a removable battery,16GB internal storage and microSD memory expansion to 32 GB. Even a year after its release, I would take the Skyrocket over the One X.

When I first bought the HOX I loved it. I used it for almost 2 weeks then some of the bugs started annoying me. So I popped my SIM card back in my iPhone 4 and used it for a day before I realized I missed the HOX's super fast LTE speeds and amazing screen. The screen alone is worth switching add in the super fast dual core processor and LTE speeds and its a no brainer. I decided to stick it out and wait for the update and hopefully it will all iron itself out.

Every phone has its strengths and shortcomings. Allow each OS to stand on their own merits. Personally I am having a lot of fun with my One X.

Phone is great, love the screen and the customizations on the android platform. (way a head of IOS) Unfortunately the phone keeps loosing connection to the network, streaming pandora is a nightmare with constantly skips or freezes which forces me to close the app and re-launch. Not to mention problems with receiving texts or phone calls even with full signal strength. I'm going to wait it out for another week or two and hope that the updates I'm hearing about will fix the issues. If not, I'm returning the HoX, and going back to the 4s. It's a shame, this phone is simply beautiful, but if it fails at it's primary function, I just can't keep it.

The update is already out if you look. Fortunately it seems to solve a lot of issues.

I'm not happy at all. I finally got sick of everything reloading. Sense is a joke. An absolute pig of a skin. What do you have when you first boot it up, 300 MB of ram? I'm not even sure this thing has the 1GB it claims. The HOX seems to be all style over substance. HTC took the thing that android did the best and buchered it. My Vivid performs better. I will admit that it doesn't look as nice though. This is not easy for me to say as I really tried to like this phone.
