Anyone putting stock in Dec 15th?

I am sure the 15th is the current "target" date.

There is obviously a problem with the phone and Verizon does not feel it is ready to be sold until an update comes from Google/Samsung. As of right now there is no update and the phone's release date is going to continue to be pushed back until that update is ready. I have zero faith we will see the phone on Thursday unless we start hearing chatter about a software update being ready.

If people believe anything a store employee is telling them, I have a bridge to sell you.

Cheetara isn't a store employee, and she doesn't get her information from the local Verizon store. She's in the loop, somehow, she doesn't reveal her sources, but her information has ALWAYS been accurate. She confirmed this morning that the 15th has been officially approved by corporate and is more than just an attempted target date, it's the new December 9th. So obviously Verizon has solved the issue that caused the delay. It is it a software update (which is HIGHLY unlikely) then it probably won't be pushed to most phone until launch day, just like 4.1 isn't being pushed to those who got their phones early.

When the black Friday ads were released were you "too ignorant" to know you missed out on the phone then? Should we have slapped you everyday past then?

You seriously expect a surprise release? That's what you are saying right? No announcement just released?

Doh, it's pretty obvious Verizon isn't going to make a big deal out of the Galaxy Nexus launch. A press release the night before/day of the launch is most likely. Definitely no preorders or a week early announcement. December 9th WAS the date. As for Black Friday, it was probably a targeted date also. But the 9th was without a date their latest intended launch.

If it was the date we'd be using our gn's now. It wasn't though. Isn't it tough to argue for something that is obviously false?

Okay... Here is more to add to the rumor mill, however, it was from a Senior Verizion Rep for Raido Shack... and I hope the hell he is wrong..!!

In summary, This past Saturday I went to my local Radio Shack to see if they had the GNex on display, he said that he has 3 of them in the back however he wasn't able to see me one until Monday.

Tonight after work I went back to RS and met up with the same guy... he told me they sold out... I said "Sold Out of the Verizon Nexus" he said "Verizion"... a minute or so later he came back and said there was a note on the boxes that the release date has been pushed back... I played dumb and said "Yes...the release date was today".... I went on to say that Best Buy was selling them yesterday, a day before the release day... the other sales person in the store confirmed my comment...

The manager (who was very cool and helpful) said let me call my Verizon Rep... he called him...and put him on speaker phone...and asked him about the release date of the phone...and the fact that he heard a rumor that Best Buy is selling them.... The Verizon rep said, yes, he was aware that Best Buy was mistakenly selling them a day early.... and have since been revoked.... The Raido Shack manager went on to ask when the relase date would be and if he know of a cause of the delay, if there was a hardware issue or O/S problem or what the issue was....

The Verzion rep went on to say... there is NO issue with the Hardware or the O/S... the issue is with the supply and demand. Apparently, there is a very limited amout of devices that went out to the Verizon stores and Verizon does not want to announce a release date until they receive more in stock. He (the Verizon rep) futher went on to say that it might not even make the Christmas or end of year date. He also went on to say they have a Corporate wide meeting tonight (12/12) to discuss a status update and "possible" release date of the device.

They hung up the phone and the Radio Shack rep said that he would follow up with him tomorrow and give me a call either way...

Again its a rumor... but I did hear it from the Verizon rep myself.... I sure hope he's wrong and this so-called-meeting tonight turns out more positive they he said...

Anyone else hear anything...??

I said target date, not the actual release date. Are you really trying to argue that a target release date always HAS to be met? That's why it's called a TARGET release date. You know what a target is? It's something you try to hit. Obviously Verizon missed.

December 9th was the date they intended to launch the Nexus, and obviously something major delayed it. They wouldn't have sent our NATIONWIDE emails to corporate and reseller stores stating it was if they had no intentions of releasing it on the 9th.

Hopefully that meeting is to discuss just releasing it right away despite the lower than ideal supply. I'd rather go to the store and be told that they are sold out than go to the store and be lied to or get people not knowing anything going on. At least if they are sold out they actually know a fact that they can share with their customers... customers who will come back when they are in stock.

Sounds like a load of bs to me. Even if the low supplies were true, so what. Release it and let the first that show up buy it and everyone else can go on back order. They are just not releasing it to get more Droid sales and probably to wait until after the Droid 4 is released. I think this will be the last Nexus phone Google ever lets Verizon have.

Low supply or not that never stopped other phone launches. I think that is the newest excuse they are using. I mean you really think verizon is going to let the devices sit in stores even longer because some stores don't have enough and may be backordered a week or two? Hell the iphone has and still is backordered saying will ship by 1/6 yet they released it over a month ago.

Agreed. Verizon really dropped the ball on this one. Delaying the device (I'm sure from what was originally anticipated) to allowing devices to leak into the public early. This release is the perfect example of WHAT NOT TO DO.

those leaked devices were best buy. verizon can't really do much if 3rd party retailers sell the phone before it is supposed to. Not to mention look how quick they put an end to that.

Held back due to low supply vs demand? OH MAN! I think we delayed the Nexus! Baaahahahaha!

I doubt it, Google is going to give it to the carrier who places the biggest bid. Plus, Verizon is an all around better network, and Google knows that. I thought it was kind of obvious by the way Google is taking all these blows from Verizon, ie the bloatware, no Google Wallet, possibly no direct updates..

You're saying you saw your spouse's emails about the 15th? I haven't actually seen a picture emailing talking about December 15th, just rumors via Droid-Life and other blogs. Wasn't entirely sure if there was actually an email or not.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. My spouse has a tablet with VZW corporate email on it and I check his email all the time when he leaves his tablet at home.

He's on the OMM/marketing email list with VZW. I've been saying for weeks that OMM doesn't lie. It doesn't.

Don't know if this has been noted or not but look at what I seen when I went into the Verizon Wireless store on my phone. This is probably old news so don't bash me too hard if its ancient.

It seems to change all the time. For awhile it was on there, then vanished and now has been back on for a few days.

I think the rep knew you would hear/be told that so that is what they used. You actually think verizon would admit there was something wrong with the phone?(even if something was wrong with it)

This just lines up with all the other well known sources are saying. Awesome, thanks!
