Anyone Returned Inc For a New One?

Alright, so both the rep on the phone AND the rep in the store have said it's a brand new device. The way it was explained to me was as such: When the phone comes off the assembly line, verizon takes a batch off the line and designates them as "replacement phones", so they aren't going to the store, they are being held for situations like this. They arrive as they do because they only send what's defective. By this logic if there isn't a battery issue they just send you a phone and nothing else, if there is a phone and charger issue, they'll send you that.

I'd say this makes sense to me, and this phone feels brand new, and like I said there was no refurb date in the ##778 screen so I think it's good. This morning while streaming radio (NPR) I received a phone call and there was an AWFUL screeching noise coming through the earpiece, which happened with the next call I placed too. I restarted the phone and all was good; I've also since done *228-2 to update just in case. The issue hasn't repeated but I'll obviously let you know if it happens again. I hope this was a one time interference issue (maybe with speakerphone, for NPR, and the earpiece, for the call).

The best of luck to you TBolt, if you're nervous do the ##778 -> view -> display and see if there's a refurb date, hopefully there isn't one :)

Very, very cool info on the # # 778 trick. Hope I don't have to use this, but it's a great tip if I have to get mine replaced.

Thank you, drjr. Your 778 trick put my mind at ease. I would have assumed it was a refurb otherwise.

I posted your tip in the tips & tricks thread - with credit to you. I think that's an important tip for folks to have. ;)

Thanks again!

Not a problem, always glad to help, and by all means spread it around; the more we know the better off we all are right? :)

Cheers!

Waiting for new phone

I have had the problem of screens chaning on their own - home screens, clock screens and others. I've narrowed this issue down to the optical trackball. In certain lighting conditions, the screens change. If you hold your thumb over the trackball - it stops. I'm guessing it's a design thing; hopefully corrected with software. I've requested a new phone.
