Anyone switching back to iPhone?

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

One reason I can't imagine anyone that's spent enough time with a Note 3 going back to an iPhone is when I'm showing someone a video on my Note 3, I can show them the video from a comfortable enough distance for them to still make out the video. If my brother shows me a video on his iPhone, he generally has to hand me the phone because it's so small. Thus, germaphobes rejoice!

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

After changing from IPhone to the Note 3 the novelty is wearing off. It's a great phone but I have an Ipad Air and a Mac Mini and I only changed because the iPhone screen is too small. If the IPhone 6 is a decent size I will probably go back. I miss imessage and the eco system.

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

I have to say im selling my Note 3. I had a Note 2 so was really looking forward to this coming out, however can't help but feel a little underwhelmed. Samsungs software is an absolute mess. I understand there ideas of gesture controls etc because theyre trying to be different, but the bottom line is no one uses them and they needed to put more time into other parts of the phone, like the camera and the UI itself. Ive had every samsung flagship since the galaxy s2 and this thing thing takes the noisiest indoor photos of the lot. I watch a lot of youtube videos and it stikes me that none of them picked up on this. And you know a phone company isnt putting the time it needs to into its phone software when they put a search bar in the settings menu. I kind of feel like samsung have hit a wall, just like a apple did. You're selling millions of phones and probably are aware that your sortware UI needs a change but don't because you're worried about scaring off the customers you've already got.

Maybe im wrong and reading too much into it, maybe im turning into one of those mobile phone nerds that is never happy :p but my time with the note 3 is done. Not quite sure what im going on to next mind, i've already had a note 2, s4, htc one, iphone 5 and lumia 1020 this year lol

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

Go the stock experience, go nexus 5 and save some money :-)

Two days ago I switched from Note 3 to Nexus 5. Saved my *** a big chunk of money AND I'm happier with the overall experience. Image stabilization is definitely a nice thing to have on this camera. Plus you can root it and get away from all of the restrictions without a "knox" counter.

You'll have some research ahead of you... so get to it!

Thanks for the advice :)

I had a nexus 5 ordered then changed my mind last minute and canceled it when they were first released. I rooted my galaxy s4 when I had that and used cyanogenmod for a while. I think its the whole camera thing thats bugging me he most as I have a soon to be 4 year old son so I take a lot of pictures and the camera in the note 3 is a downgrade from the S4 where as it should have been an upgrade. I also think maybe I see the need for a 'phablet' phone a little less now as I have a nexus 7 at home. Again thanks for the advice, the Nexus 5 along with the iphone 5s and a return to the lumia 1020 are the only options im considering at the minute

Some things about the iPhone 5S (I currently own of those as well). If you're looking for the stock locked down experience, then the iPhone 5S won't disappoint. The camera is damn good and it has by far the best slo-motion camera/software I have ever used personally. It takes SUPER fast still shots... but I have only used that option once (while driving I wanted to get a good shot of the "Daytona Beach" sign... worked pretty well!). The touch ID is extremely accurate and fast and the phone is overall fast.

Some negatives. Despite the fact that you have decided that phablets are not necessary, I wonder how much it would bother you only having a 4inch screen... it may be eye straining to you. Maybe a 5inch-ish would better suit you? The iPhone 5S is currently jailbreakable BUT 90% of the tweaks that are available to you do not work due to incompatibilities with mobilesubstrate which will likely be updated, but there's no telling.

Do you have bluetooth devices with AVRCP? iPhone 5S supports skips and stop/play... but have yet to get it to push song info / album art. Hell I didn't even know about this feature in my car until I got the Nexus setup and omg is it nice!

Overall I'd say it's iOS that you really gotta choose if you want to stick with. I've stuck it out with the 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S and 5S... I don't think I'll be switching back though now that Android has really caught up with performance!

Couldn't really have said that any better myself.

My main worry about returning to iphone is that 4 inch screen, although i dont see the need as much for a 'phablet' anymore I don't know if it may be a bit too small. Thats why my mind is kind of set on a lumia 1020 again with its 4.5 inch screen. Windows phone has a lot of quirks and places where it needs improvement but the camera is out of this world good. Trying to get hold of a 32gb iphone 5s would also be a problem as there aren't many around and its my aim to stay off contract for a while when mine expires in march.

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

Purchasing phones on CL is super risky.

My mother recently purchased an iPhone 5S from a guy for pretty cheap. After a week her phone got "no service". So she called up to her carrier only to find that it was blacklisted shortly after her purchase as stolen.

Between this risk and dealing with unknown people... I'd say for phones, you are taking a huge risk!

I've never really thought about this before. But, I suppose someone could sell a phone on CL, then make an insurance claim the next day. The person who buys the phone sees it's working on their line when they first buy it, then get screwed over a fee days later. I believe eBay protects against stuff like this. Not sure about CL.

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

Funniest thing for me this weekend was going back (momentarily) to my iPhone 5 just to retrieve some contacts that didn't migrate. I seriously felt like I was holding a toy in my hands.

Reason for Apple not coming out with a larger screen??: fear that they will canibalize their ipad mini market.

I felt the same way when I switched to the HTC One three weeks ago

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

Lol of course. You ask me to show an iPhone 5 for $300 and I show you 3, but you still have excuses. The one with the picture says normal wear and tear. You do realize brand new iPhones were coming scratched right out of the box???

No excuses... Just my experience. Plus I'm in Florida, no 300 dollar iPhone 5's down here. Also I wouldn't be comfortable buying any phone from Craigs list that close to the Mexico border... You get what you pay for!

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

What does being close to Mexico have to do with anything? Talk about ignorant!

Yeah you get an iPhone 5 for 250-300 bucks!

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

Had the iPhone 5, now on the note 3, it would be very hard for me to go back. Maybe it's just me but I don't use my phone to do simple tasks and I've been learning more and more things about Android and it's customization which I love. Sure there are some gimmicks but hey, if you don't like them turn them off. My only concern is that Google play isn't as strong as iTunes or the apple store but hopefully it will catch up. I'm loving this phone

Customization is fun at first but, that feeling will fade fast. Then the Bordum will set in and then you will miss all the useful features of ios and the refined apps.
I'm just waiting for a bigger iPhone them I'm ghost.

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

Been using Android phones for about three years and I don't think I'd ever go back to iPhone. Not willing to have a small screen and no customization.

Customization is what keeps me from getting bored with Android. I don't feel like I'm missing out on any apps and can't think of anything significant the iPhone can do that flagship Android phones can't.

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

I was on the iPhone for a year and not to be rude but I honestly don't see what useful features I'm missing out on. Just some indies games that aren't on the play store. I don't think the customization faze will be gone anytime soon

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

I have the Note 3 as my personal line and am iPhone 5 from my employer for work. I always cringe when I need to use the iPhone. The screen is too small to read Web pages without turning the phone sideways. The keys are too close together for my fingers. I can't swipe when I type. The email app doesn't allow me to create a numeric list.

IOS is just to much of a bother for me to purchase for myself. The camera is good on the iPhone 5 but I like the camera on the Note 3 just as much.

Ignorant? I've never been called that but ok!

My point is people purchase stolen phones to use them in other countries like Mexico... They clone the ESN or whatever and if u are not careful u will end up with an expensive paper weight. I speak from experience... u get what u pay for!

And sure u can purchase an iPhone 5 for 300 bucks on craigslist, but do not expect it to be in good condition!

My experience with craigslist is if the phone is in mint condition then that's the first thing u advertise... especially with pictures. If someone says that theres scratches or dings from normal ware and tear then don't even bother! I've had many phones and most were sold on craigslist or eBay... none of them were scratched up or dinged unless I dropped it or mishandled them. I'm not looking to buy a device that's been abused and I'm sure u wouldn't either.

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

I recently switched from an iPhone 4S to this current Note 3. I won't be going back.

Why? One word - iTunes.

Re: Anyone switching back to Iphone?

ITunes still has me by the balls, too. I get it
But it's not enough to make me carry an Apple device. They're pretty, though lol
