Anyone try Solo launcher? I prefer it over Nova!

I've been experimenting with solo launcher. It's super smooth and a 5 star app on the play store. It has gestures just like nova with some extra goodies like I like the "screen elastic" which snaps the screen back when you scroll. The menu system is pretty clean and I LOVE the clock widget. You can click on it and it shows more info. Best of all its FREE! No premium etc like you need with Nova. I am using the Lumos icon pack and resized the icons to 115% and added a 5th column. Clean and simple.

There's also a option to keep the launcher in the memory to avoid redraws. It's doesn't hog the battery at ALL. As you can see from the GSAM notification my stats are superb ;)

yes and no :-) Touchwiz is a massive memory hog and using an additional launcher on top of it will use even more memory and might slow some apps and switching between apps down. At the same time, most alternative launchers are considerably faster than Touchwiz. So in the end, you have to choose: some additional lag in the apps but total fluidity in the GUI or somewhat slow GUI but slightly faster apps.

Bottom half of those first pics look like io7. And whats up with that bottom black bar taken up space on the screen?!?!

You can set the icons to look like iOS. Its in one of the options.

I used Nova Launcher over 1 year, but was bored with it, then I tried Solo Launcher, which was little bit faster, but had cooler interface.

I got a better alternative. root your phone and keep touchwiz. I was using nova for months. Tried solo apex. It all takes getting use to. I have the same options using touchwiz. Common sense would say Im using the software tht came wth the phone just tweaked so there is no extra skin on top of touchwiz tht basically will put your phone under unwanted stress or pressure. I even went as far as to totally delete some of the touch wiz features. Not disable or uninstall but obliterate from the device. Like one handed operation and touch wiz easy etc. So I have the origal layout minus some of the useless features I never used anyway. ROOT is the answer and I can use any icon pack thtz compatible wth any launcher. Using unicon. I mean this is the final answer to this whole launcher fiasco..

Rooting a phone is not for the Faint of Heart.

Those who have not studied it, can royally screw up a good working phone.

I have nothing against rooting a phone, but it should not be suggested "for everyone".

As of yet, I have not done it, but am studying how it is done. That said, and an Android user since the stuff came out, I would feel a lot more comfortable if I had an experienced person with me when I tried it.

I dont really like solo because I experienced some kind of stutter even when scrolling through my homescreen.

2 issues I found with solo is the calendar does not update and it magnifies my wallpaper and only shows part of it. I could not find a way to display the wallpaper the way I wanted it to display..
Overall though I liked it but uninstalled it and went back to nova...
