Anyone using Black Wireless??

One more update.... Google refunded me for the original phone and removed the hold for the second unit. However, the refund was short 15% for "restocking fee". Really?? Restocking fee for a defective phone??!! I called them and they bumped my account up to a specialist to be looked at. If they refuse the full refund, I will let all the forums and a few news sites know all about it.

Not sure how much that will matter to them, but I guess we'll see.

Not to start any drama but we go in buying the device knowing this. They add that 15% fee because they have to resell it as a refurb after its fix. Not that it should be an issue. However I do side with you to a point.

I got the International S3 in today. Took a bit to get the Black Wireless card to work. Once it did, I found my speeds were still on Edge speed, actually a bit slower. I called Black Wireless up and told them the sim card was bad. They actually expect me to buy another sim! I told them they need to replace it as it has been bad from the get go. Someone was supposed to call me back, but like always, no one did.

My opinion is to STAY AWAY from Black Wireless. I reactivated my old Straight Talk sim. As long as I dont do any streaming when not on wifi, I should be ok.

Net10 seems to have a good deal going!

I'm a dealer with several carriers including My Black Wireless. Sorry to hear that you've had trouble ouble. As far as your international phone, are make sure that it has the proper wcdma radio frequencies. If it does not have the 850 or 1900 radio bands, you will not get 3g. I will admit that customer service is not the greatest. They are headquartered in New York. They target the Latino community which is why you get people that sound "foreign". I actually get many customers that call me direct as in the only dealer you can really find online. If you need help in the future Google "No Strings Wireless". My contact info is on my site. :-)

Well, that phone was returned. Would refuse to connect to WiFi. But I had same problem with using Black Wireless card in my Nexus 4.

I bought a sim card two Saturdays ago. I only got it on the following Friday, pretty slow shipping.
Activation was painless, it worked fine on a Motorola Droid Maxx HD I had unlocked. I have not tried data yet. I was excited about the international calling, this was the reason I chose Black Wireless. Also I got some rebates, so I ended up paying just $20 for the sim card and the $30 plan for unlimited minutes and text this month. :)
But, they are a lot more expensive than what they claim. For example, they said I have 19 minutes to call cell phones in Argentina, well, I dialed a cell phone number and I got a message saying I only had credit to talk for 5 minutes! So, I hung up, didn't make the call since it was four times more expensive than what they claim. Same when I call to landlines, I was supposed to have like 10 hours, the first time I call it said I had like 6 hours left, I talked for about 4 minutes. The next day I make another call to Argentina and it said I had about 4 and a half hours, and this call was about 6 minutes. Next I make another call and I get the message that I have 3 and a half hours to talk. So for each call they are charging me like a whole hour! It is definetly not what they are advertising. If there is a connection charge, they don't state it anywhere I could find it.
I sent a support e-mail two days ago and have yet to hear back.
So, I would not recommend this service to anybody.

I just ported a number to BW. I filled out the online form at about 5:30 pm on Tuesday and the port was complete by 11:30 am the following day.

I have the $10 for 90 days of service, pay as you go plan, since I don't use the phone very often. Voice quality is as good as it was on AT&T, which makes sense, since BW uses the ATT network. I get a strong signal.

Data is horrible. It's Edge, and slower than slow. It's like dial-up with 14.4 telephone modem. I felt like I had been transported back to the early 1990's. I don't know if this is because I'm using the very cheapest plan. Perhaps it's better with a monthly plan. Fortunately, I plan to use wifi most of the time.

*****UPDATE*****

I just figured out why my data is so slow. I didn't have the 3G setting enabled on my iPhone. Duh!
It's similar to the AT&T 3G speeds I used to get when I was on their $90/month plan.

BUYER BEWARE: UNLIMITED DATA IS NOT UNLIMITED. I have had the "unlimited data" plan for 2 weeks, not downloading big files, streaming or anything and my connection has been throttled. It's currently not useable. I called and "Customer Service" said that there was a 2 GB / month limit before users are throttled. I didn't see this anywhere when signing up, never received a warning that I was approaching 2 GBs, etc. I understand that AT&T's limit is 5 GBs, so why is Black Wireless only 2?

Seems like a good idea, but I would avoid them. There is a reason why people opt for contracts with bigger companies and this sort of shoddy treatment is indicative of those reasons.

I know I'm late in responding, but here it goes: Let's compare ATT and Black Wireless prepaid plans. ATT for $40 gives you 500 min talk/unlimited texts/500mb data. For $40 Black Wireless gives you unlimited talk/unlimited texts/1GB data. How is Black Wireless not better? You were comparing apples to oranges, and since black wireless is prepaid, compare att's prepaid plan to black's.

Heck, to equal what black gives you, you would have to pay $45 a month to ATT to get unlim talk/text/1GB data. I pay $30 a month for unlim talk/unlim text/500mb data. I don't need much data since I'm almost always around wifi. So you see, black wireless is a better deal when you compare prepaid plans.

ATT only gives you 5GB data when you have a regular plan which is much more expensive.
