AOD not turning off in pocket...

I think you misunderstood my original post. I have tap to wake on.

The issue is that when you have Always On Display set to always on, it should turn off in your pocket to save battery life. It has done this on every other Samsung phone except this one.
I agree it should. Mine doesn't either. Maybe they just haven't fixed it yet. But in the meantime I'm enjoying all of the good about the device.

Unfortunately, I don't think the new proximity sensor works with the screen off/mostly off yet. I'm hoping this is not due to the new through the screen design. On the S10 plus, I don't know why they just didn't put a regular IR sensor between the two cameras.

I don't think it's a hardware issue because the screen turns off when you make a phone call and cover the proximity sensor.

So the proximity sensor itself is working, it's just not working when it should with the pocket. Seems like a software update would fix this.

Now with everyone saying it stays on in pocket... screen side in?? (meaning against the leg) Or screen side out??

Like someone said only happening with athletic shorts, it could be detecting skin through fabric more easily. So wonder if people wearing screen out makes a difference.

Also how about screen sensitivity setting?? Other threads people are increasing the screen sensitivity because of FPS issues. Reduce the sensitivity to min and see what happens.

No, unfortunately not. AOD still stays on while in my pocket.

I always put my phone screen side out (not against my leg) in my pocket. I've done that for every phone that I've ever owned. I'm not getting any screen unlocks or butt dials by doing that, but my AOD is still staying on.

I think it's just a software issue to be honest. I just hope Samsung recognizes it and corrects it.

My Always On display is not working on my s10+
I have the unlocked version from Best buy

Any help would be greatly appreciated

So the only time I have an issue with touches in my pocket is when I wear my athletic shorts, in my jeans no issue.

I have no doubt that the pocket detection isn't working, but the jean pockets are thicker and keep the phone from touching my leg and registering touches. I use it all week at work with no issues, until I went out this weekend to the theme park and we heard music coming from my pocket...LOL

Turned that setting off for the day and no more issues. (double tap to wake)

Yeah, same exact thing was happening to me at the gym today. I actually turned on touch sensitivity and it started to open up in my pocket. I figured it made the double tap too sensitive so I turned it (sensitivity) back off. Oddly enough, it continued to turn on so I went in and turned off double tap to wake. Hoping a reboot will let me use double tap again without any issues.

Any updates on you messing with settings?

I'm back with double tap enabled after reboot and no more accidental openings in pocket. I believe if you have 'touch sensitivity' enabled it will make it too sensitive for in pocket use with double tap enabled.

Weird, I only have my AoD active when charging with a bixby routine (because no more notification light when charging) so I never noticed it. Hoping there's a fix soon so I could give AoD (always on) a try. I never used it because I thought it was supposed to stay on in the pocket or anywhere really I didn't know it turned off under certain circumstances

I just tried mine and AOD stays on when I cover my screen too. But isn't that premise behind "always on"? 😉

Not on any other Samsung phone that has ever had AOD. The purpose is to save battery life while in a pocket since AOD is pointless in a pocket. 😋

Just a thought. My wife's S7 AOD goes off when it goes into Do not disturb (I believe ). Maybe a workaround for now?

there was a update for AOD in GALAXY app store this morning dont know if it fixed anything haven't had a chance to look
