Last year I listed here my APN settings for my Verizon Note 2 that I used on Straight Talk. A lot of people had and still are having difficulty with those settings. Just a note: following my initial post, Straight Talk changed some of their settings which I believe is why so many people had problems. Today, I changed ROMS on my i605. After doing so, the APN settings I was using no longer worked. So I had to find a new one.

FYI:
  • All Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2s arrive at Verizon UNLOCKED -- meaning they can be used on any carrier because they are capable of BOTH cdma and gsm networks. This is very rare in a phone.
  • The GNote2 uses a MICRO SIM card -- Straight Talk sent me the wrong size - regular. I did not want to wait for them to send me the right size, so I simply downloaded and printed out a SIM template. I then used the template to cut (with scissors) my SIM card down to the right size. It worked perfectly!

Your phone must be ROOTED to enjoy the variety of ROMS. Each ROM has different setting options. The ROM I put on my phone today gave me the option of choosing between all of the North American carriers. I chose AT&T even though my phone is a Verizon one and I will be using Straight Talk as my carrier. Remember that Straight Talk only uses the GSM networks, AT&T and T-Mobile. Where I live, AT&T is much better than T-Mobile. Because I chose AT&T, I need AT&T APN settings. These are the settings that currently work for me:

Name ATT Phone
APN Phone
Proxy Not Set
Port Not Set
User name Not Set
Password Not set
Server Not set
MMSC http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port 80
MCC 310
MNC 410
Authentication
type None
APN type default,mms,supl
APN protocol IPv4
Enable/disable
APN APN enabled
Bearer Unspecified

_____________________________

IMPORTANT

There are NO SPACES between the digits, periods, slashes for the MMSC, the MMS proxy, and the APN type. For the APN, there is a box that you tap to check off to enable it.

I am able to use the phone, data and sms with no problems. Hope THIS one helps :p

I looked for APN settings for a rooted and unlocked Verizon Note 2 using a Straight Talk SIM, but was unable to find one. So in case anyone else is looking for the same, here are my settings that FINALLY work.

Name
Straight Talk

APN
wap.tracfone

Port
8080

MMSC
http://mms.tracfone.com

MCC
310

MNC
260

APN protocol
IPv4

And that's it. Everything I did not mention should say "Not set" with the exception of Bearer which is "Unspecified"

Coming from the Sprint-to-Boost world so pardon any noobishness here.

I came into a Verizon Note 2 updated OTA to 4.1.2, with clean IMEI, but no vzn SIM. In preparation to try to flash it over to Boost, I rooted it with CASUAL and installed TWRP recovery, otherwise it's bone stock. Never got far trying this move because I didn't know how I was going to get around the LTE SIM requirement for Verizon notes or otherwise write an ESN in it.

NOW, I learn that Straight Talk has a CDMA BYOD kit that comes with a sim. Now, I'm just smart enough to figure out this is probably a GSM sim since they clearly state they don't support LTE phones like our Notes. SO...are you saying that you bought one of these Straight Talk SIMs, just popped it into your rooted, stock 4.1.2 Verizon Note 2, changed the APN (since popping in a non-Verizon SIM unlocks the APN settings menu) to those listed above and Voila! you got voice, MMS, and 3g data?

If so, this is my ideal solution. If not, what else did you have to do to get it working on Straight Talk? Thanks!

Boost OG Epic4g --Rooted, Carbonized JB goodness

Thank you so much for this helpful information. Straighttalk & or verizon are of no help to me.... SO screaming thanks to you

For some reason these settings won't save in my Verizon Note 2 (Rooted and unlocked). I can click save, but it won't actually save it. I'm able to save other APN settings, (like the ones from the Straight Talk site), just now these settings. Anybody else have this problem?

I have found that when you change the MNC number from 410 to any other number and click save it will delete the APN from the list of APNs... is that normal or is that how it has to be? cuz I get nothing but talk when doing it... I then have to remake my apn to another setting to enable any data and only sending MMS... still can not receive MMS.

Can you please tell me.. .did you have to flash the phone over to straight talk first? I have the bring your own phone SIM and my phone just says non verizon sim..It won't let me save the APN that is posted here.. Do I have to change the setting without the sim card in it.? I need help and I can't seem to find many who have actually gotten their verizon phone onto straight talk unless they are offering to let me pay them to flash it.. Thank you in advanced

i have a verizon note 2. when i first activated it with straight talk using an ATT sim card, everything but the mms worked fine..... internet voice and text all worked. then when i tried to change some apn settings trying to get the mms to work, i lost all data connection. i reset it back to original straight talk settings and still couldnt get data to work. my SOLUTION!!!!! WAS TO GO TO MOBILE NETWORKS, AND CLICK 'NETWORK MODE' CHANGED IT TO GSM/UMTS. THIS THEN SEARCHED FOR CARRIES OR WHATEVER IT WAS DOING. IT CAME UP WITH ATT AND SOME RANDOM NUMBER. I CLICKED THE ATT, AND IT SAID.... REGISTERING WITH ATT....... BOOM... WORKED.. INTERNET INSTANTLY WAS ON... I HOPE THIS HELPS ANYONE THAT WAS IN MY SITUATION.

VERIZON NOTE 2 RUNNING 4.1.2 UNLOCKED AND ROOTED

EDIT. btw i called straight talk.... bunch of idiots through and through, asked them why my data was no longer working when i set my settings back, she said ill see if your phones able to be on our network. you can do it online or i can do it.. she ran my imei numbers and said it is NOT able to work on straight talk.... i said, then why when i JUST NOW run them on your website at straighttalk, it says it will work fine.... she says no we can use verizon blah blah blah something about they use cdma and all this other ****... um it was already working two days ago fine. she says i was LUCKY and it shouldnt have been able to work.... i said dont change anyhting on my account and hung up on her... then played a little bit in my settings and found that changing network mode.. i was in global.. to gsm and clicking the att, it worked without a problem..
F*** that stupid rep and F*** straighttalk. dont need their ****ty service and ridiculous dumb *** employees. will suffice with not being able to send mms picture messages... to pay 45 dollars a month for 4g data and unlimited everything. saves me 50% than any other carrier. which i believe carriers are getting ridiculous with their prices..... oh and btw, when i went to cancel my two att phones (not smart phones, but dumb old *** phones) which my plan was 550 minutes,,, shared between the two of us. and unlimited tex... NO DATA.. i was pay over 115$ a month... went to cancel and she says oh wait, we can give you a 60$ plan for two phones for unlimited talk and text and 300 mb of data... wtf am i pay 120$ for then! f you guys! well she says. i can give it to you for 50$ for unlimited talk and text and 300mb of data... for life..... um... great deal.. no thank you ,,, i want data.. so i pay 45 for unlimited everything with straight talk.... just wanted to tell that story in case you have att and are thinking about switching because of the price... they do have a plan, no contract, for two phones unlimited text and talk and 300 mb data for 60 bucks,, ***** and they will make it 50 dollars.. and for one phone its 40 dollars.

BTW my apn settings are
name STRAIGHT_TALK
APN tfdata
mmsc http://mms-tf.net
mms proxy mms3.tracfone.com
mms port 80
mcc 310
mnc 410
apn protocol IPv4
Enable/Disable APN APN enabled

make sure when you clikc mobile networks you have the box checked that says MObile data

and again, i changed my network mode to gsm/umts and then when it searched for services, i clicked att and it said registers with att.. and boom, data.... hope this helps

I would LOVE it if someone could talk me through setting up my Verizon Note 2 on Straight Talk. I checked out the compatibility online and was told it would work, purchased the plan/activation kit, tried to activate, and then was told by the straight talk folks that it would not work. I REALLY want to get it to work and when I did a search, it looks like some people on here were able to crack it. If anyone is willing to help, I sure would appreciate it. <<email removed per rules>>. Thank you in advance.

I have a stock Verizon Note 3 I activated on StraightTalk with AT&T SIM. APN settings that work for me are below. I can only imagine it would be the same for the Note 2...

Here's my APN Settings:

Name: ATT 4G LTE (of course you can name it whatever you want)
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: PAP
APN Type: default,mms,supl,hipri
APN Protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO Type: None

With those settings everyting is working for me!Pulling in great data connection, and successfully sending and receiving MMS.

Careful with the verizon on straight talk. My buddy that works for Verizon said they will be dropping straight talk sometime this year? I havent taken the time to look it up yet because I like the AT& T service straight talk has. So it won't bother me at all. Might be something youd wanna look into.

Straight Talk will tell you, AS THEY TOLD ME, that they cannot and are unable to support ANY Verizon phones. The techs on the phone genuinely think this. LOL Even after I explained to them that the GNote2 supports BOTH CDMA AND GSM networks.

**You DO NOT NEED a CDMA KIT for the Verizon Galaxy Note 2.**

You only need a Straight Talk SIM Card and the correct APN settings for the SIM card you are using. Some S.T. SIMS are used on T-Mobile lines while others are used on AT&T lines.

I just stumbled across this....I have a Verizon note 3 got it yesterday and immediately activated it with straight talk with an at&t sim using these settings you put.. I can text and use Internet but can't use mms. Is there anything else you did to make it work?
