App Ops ( Access Lock ) works on G4

Just a general note, it's sad when we have to go to this level to get battery life. Some restrictions I don't do since I like the benefits these apps provide. When I find myself trying to kill all these apps it's sort of disturbing since I'm not getting the benefits they offer.

Anyway, thanks for the thead.

I agree with this. The G4 is the first phone I've tried everything I can to squeeze extra battery life out and I feel like I'm neutering my phone. Kinda takes some of the life out of it. I may go back to stock and keep a charger nearby and forget about it. We'll see

There is a sense of pride in honing your phone to maximum settings for your liking... I don't root, but anything I can do outside of that, I do.
With my g2 and g3 this required some tinkering for the first month or two and I was on autopilot the rest of the time...

Just out of curiosity, what sacrifices do you feel like you are making that is neutering your phone?

I don't feel like that at all but realize it's all a matter of perspective.

Yeah it does. Its in settings but not working for me.

Let us know if you see any benefit.

If there has been any benefit at all I haven't been able to notice it as yet.

My battery is routinely draining 7-8+% hour, and that is pretty consistent throughout the past week (I received it last Monday). On the one hand, my SoT looks very nice, but the overall battery life is disappointing. It's sort of odd, as the two averages are too close to one another. Gsam has Averages Per Complete Charge:
5 hr 1 m (with 3 h 41 m Max) Screen On, but only 10 h 20 m (7 h 18 m Active) Battery Life.

It's not fair to compare this battery to the Droid Turbo, but only for the sake of the differences in SoT vs. total battery life on each, the last Gsam I saved for the Turbo had me at:
8 h 45 m (8 h 4 m Max) SoT, and 1d 0 h (12 h 39 m Active) Battery Life overall.

That was about 6 months of averages for the Turbo and this is only a week for the G4, so it may right itself, but I'm a bit concerned.

I've never felt this way, really. There is just so much I don't need or want, that I'm forced to have if I don't disable it, that inroads can be made without feeling like I'm limiting the phone.

One minor exception is the Facebook app, which is a notorious battery and resources hog. All things being equal, it would be easier to share articles and pics on FB with the app installed, but given just how bad the app is, I'm fine using the Chrome browser for the mobile FB page. Actually within FB, I don't miss the app.

Anyway, when I get to a point where I'm shutting down something I'll miss, that's when the phone in question is a dud for me. I've always tried to "optimize" my phones. If something is slowing it down, and I don't use that something, I want the speed boost even if the phone is already fast.

Disabling all apps via the method you posted here

Turning all Google services to manual sync which includes 2 email accounts and all their goodies. Plus Google play store

Turning location to battery saver

All of which I feel downgrade my phone to a point

This seems to have made a big difference. Overnight 8 hours dropped 10% . This is better than I was getting before. I'll keep checking results.

Cool Tool :). I most likely won't use it since I am just to lazy to worry about restricting things. I like to install my apps and let them do what they do. If I want to prevent it (like Facebook) -- I just sign out.

Anyone finding this feature in European G4? Normal search in QSMaker only reveals an "Activity" called Hidden Menu, which unfolds to Access Point Names.

So if I use this app and disable a few things and then uninstall the app, do the permissions come back for said apps or not?

You use Quick Shortcut Maker to make the shortcut to get into the settings. QSM doesn't effect the settings so it's fine to remove without messing anything up.

Hello Im going to try this app but i dont know how to use it. Any clue/guide for a noob?
What apps i should go/see, and when inside what should i "kill/disable?" thanks

You won't be killing or disabling any apps. You will be able to remove many permissions from downloaded apps. System apps can't be touched.

Location and Keep Awake are the key things to disable.
