Apple allowing new lines with unlimited?

I'm thinking about trying this, just for UDP, but I don't want the iPhone. The site calls it iPhone unlimited, so does that mean if I was to return it for an Android phone that they'd take away the unlimited?

We don't know. I don't think they would though.

Do you mean you can't add a line because you have max lines already or that you don't have an extra line already to use? If either case, this will still work

I already have 5 lines of service. I tried it earlier and after entering my account password, it just said error. Now I can upgrade normally, just didn't let me add a line

I pulled the trigger. Risk is low. Payout is potentially high if they honor it. I have 3 Unlimited Lines on one family plan and 1 Unlimited and 1 Basic on another family plan.

Now that all my other lines are upgraded and under contract, I have no need for the basic line. If Verizon honors this, I'll be able to consolidate and potentially have 5 Unlimited Lines on 1 Family Plan.

I did hesitate a little, mainly because the new line will not be active before October 1st and may be subject to Network Optimization. I was even deciding whether to get the 6 or a 5s instead, since it would ship sooner.

However, the 6/6 Plus should have a lot higher value initially.

If they don't honor this, it should be fairly easy to cancel.

Plus, I saved the screenshots and I'd understand being skeptical if this was through any other 3rd Party Retailer, but Apple doesn't make mistakes and Verizon knows that.

I'm sure they were offering this as a reward to entice more people to sign up, particularly those who may not have known this phone was being released if not for this promotional offer.

Plus, it'll be cool to have a new toy. Might even try to root it, uninstall Safari, sideload chrome, and swap out Apple Pay for Google Wallet.

It'll bring back memories of when I was running CyanogenMod on my Iphone 4, before I made the jump to Android and never looked back.

I called Verizon to move one line to an individual plan, but get same error message. I did try a mock order on Amazon and it did allow me to add a line to the family plan so it seems to be ok on the account side.

I tried this on my single plan and on a buddy's family plan. Neither showed the unlimited option, so it may have been pulled.

Cnotes let me know. I did ship to home and according to apples site I will not ship out till October some time.

It's a no go. I'll post more in a few. Got a free case out of it though.

I think for a lot of us we did ship to home because the Best Buy method doesn't work in store either. I'm hoping that the SIM is provisioned already with UL data when the device arrives so with just activation it should work. I'm assuming you did store pickup, cnotes?

But the bb method using the old sim. This add a line has to use a new sim. I hope you are right. I will monitor this thread to see if you all have success via ship to home. Yes I did In store pick up. It was a hot mess....

Sorry to hear it. Not surprised that it didn't work in store, but hopefully it will work at home

I do believe I have a method for switching from a tiered data plan to an unlimited data plan when upgrading on the iconic portal on both month-to-month pricing AND using a 2yr upgrade (either upgrading an existing line, or adding an additional line). But I'm not willing to test it out. The order will be completed with the unlimited plan on the final feature changes screen invoice, but as for if it will actually go through when the phone arrives and is activated I have no idea.

This potential loophole works with any grandfathered feature id. I've tried both the regular $29.99 unlimited plan and the long retired $64.99 unlimited international unlimited data plan and Verizon's system does process the feature id and spit out the actual data plan name on the next screen as being on the new line or upgrade features on the order.

I'll pay you a $1 to test it

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but those who are not seeing the Unlimited iPhone Plan there is an explanation. When you get to the page that asks you to choose your minutes package, make a choice. Underneath you'll see info on the More Everything Plans. It even states that you can get a 15 GB More Everything Plan if you call Verizon Wireless. Underneath that you'll see the More Everything Plans up to 4GB. If you hit the Blue arrow you'll see a choice for 10GB. There is no Unlimited at this point. But don't worry. Do not select any Data Plan and click Continue or the Green Button. It will then take you to a page that asks you to select a Data Plan. You can then hit the Blue Arrow and the options for 10GB+HotSpot, 12GB+Hotspot, and iPhone Unlimited appear!

For those that want to Upgrade their phones but keep Unlimited Data this is an excellent option. Once the new iPhone arrives you can just drop your old line of your old iPhone.

There are two caveats.
1. The new iPhone will have a new phone number that you'll have to address your contacts about.

2. You'll have an Unlimited Data Plan albeit with a new 2 year contract with the new iPhone.

The 2 year contract is okay for many as many people find the robustness of the Verizon network to be an acceptable compromise.

I've called Apple. Apple Customer Service is aware of the option. The representative said that she believes it's not coming down from the Apple Website. However she did indicate that Apple has no control over the Verizon Data pricing policies. The representative said that there is really nothing to lose. If Verizon doesn't honor the plan you have 14 days to return the phone and 30 days to cancel the new iPhone contract. She also had a positive attitude about Verizon. She has never heard of Verizon reneging on formalized transactions.
