Mel, I think that will change with the upcoming Nexus program expanding. I don't think it will be too long before you're able to ROM AOKP onto the One X. Still a Nexus One X would be a big move forward.

That's furthering my point I know basically almost any Android can flash a vanilla rom but CURRENTLY Samsung is the only one that has it straight out the box

Hope all of the mirrors in your home are covered Apple is legally entitled to enforce it's patents. While I think it should have been handled differently, Apple was within it's rights on this one. Save the vitriol for the patent office and patent trolls in general.

you said it should have been handled differently so the legal folks went about this the wrong way? how would you have handled this put yourself as ceo of a company i am interested in to know how this could have been handled differently the courts made a ruling the customs folks did their job slow but did it what went wrong besides a week of the phone being held up. you would think apple went and had HTC shutdown none of us are getting any money from anyone of these guys google doesn't care you about you or anyone but their pockets , so does apple, so does HTC, Samsung, and all the rest of the 1200 android OEMs out there on alibaba and underground china. I just think that getting personal as if this was somehow directed at us is crazy they don't care just buy android if thats your cake , or IOS , or BB ummmm take that back not BB it might not be around, but WP7, 8 or whatever just go for the best tech and device and brag about it.

That's only on the Nexus line though. TouchWiz looks more like iOS than Android.

I second that. Text on Galaxy S phones look like over-bloated pixelated messes. Now that I have the One X I am never looking back.

I would even use Stock if I have to...

Two qualifiers to my point (to be made below):

(1) I spent a weekend jailbreaking my now 2 year old iPad
(2) I agree with you, mostly

However, without Apple we wouldn't have companies striving to make better devices. Say what you want, but their ability to sell so many units of the iPhone, iPad, whatever has caused manufacturers to really step their game up. Look at the ICS lock screen, for example. Instead of using a somewhat infringing lock screen design, the ICS designers, Duarte, whomever, set out to create something unique--hence you can take that little lock thing and move it anywhere before going to the right, left, or wherever the target is located.

Without Apple having such a commanding presence, our products wouldn't be as good. That's basic economics. So while I don't like the iPhone, detest iOS, and think Jailbreaking should not even be mentioned in the same breath as rooting and flashing, I understand that without the fruit we have nothing to make our pie.

You realise that doesn't make it any less true. Apple designers have openly discussed in meetings that making software for the more mainstream user, and giving apple products a "hip" image is far more important to their business model than developing hardware and software advances. So in other words, they make products for people too stupid, or at the very least, too ignorant to use real technology.

I mean look at their desktops. They take a pc, put on a software-crippled OS and then market-sorcer it into selling for three times as much. Ugh, done ranting.
