Apple / Samsung Court Ruling

No need to worry, the Nexus7 is made by Asus, not Samsung. ;-)

Apple is just a group of spoiled rich kids who feel only they can dictate how phones work, *comment removed to preserve family-friendly vibe*

Actually it's a dumb-ass jury thinking they're protecting the American economy, without realizing that Apple only benefits the Chinese economy. There really isn't any reason to favor Apple over Samsung.

+1

Then you're lying to yourself and us in every post you make here.

Exactly.

Johnly- How does this hatred, and the associated self limiting of technological offerings, improve your life? I'm really struggling to understand this. I'm no huge fan of Microsoft, but that doesn't mean if they came out with a wonderful product that I'd dismiss it just because of the name on the box. How can a rational person call this behavior anything but immature?

Prove thats why they ruled the way they did.

and what am I lying about. Be specific so we can learn.

That apple had no effect on the trajectory of mobile technology in 2007. Ignore the marketing. Can you honestly say that smartphones would be where they are if the iPhone didn't exist?

Not that this should have any bearing on the intelligent (using that word loosely for some) debate here, but I believe Apple employs more Americans than Samsung does.

Uh sure. Because Apple doesn't have a US headquarters with everything from marketing to R&D, retail outlets, and component factories in the US.

On that note, walmart, and every other retail outlet selling overseas goods is American now? Really. Motorola is headquartered here and so are many other companies. That is the problem with this country, people don't believe manufacturing has anything to do with the economy. As long as we are headquartered here and sell Chinese products....we are good Americans.

I am blown away at the ignorance today here. If you are as old as I am and remember the economy when manufacturing was state side, then you remember the good days. I was easy to get a job, and if you wanted a paycheck, you could have it. Now you have to be very competitive to do the same. That isn't good for ignorant people.

I am glad I asked. Because that is not what I meant. Sure they effected the parabolic line, but that line was going to get drawn any way, with or without Apple.
There were many smartphones with touch interfaces before Apple. MANY. Apple just did it the best and marketed the device properly.

I find it ironic that you used the word ignorance.

Show me one phone with a large multitouch capacitive display that existed before the iPhone. You are under the false impression that history would have played out the same way without apple. The lack of any devices resembling the iPhone prior to its introduction (even multiple devices with only one or two of the elements), and the state of the marketplace at that time, proves your ideas not only wrong, but completely divergent from reality.

I guess they're dumb asses because they didn't rule in Samsung's favor.

Oh so thats why you're unemployed. (you set yourself up for it, don't blame us for taking the shot)

Also, what you described rewarded mediocrity. Competition is s good thing.

I don't necessarily disagree with that, although it's impossible to rewrite history :). I was also intrigued by the keyboard, particularly how laggy it was on the very first one!

I'll have to say the keyboard was one of the most impressive thing about the iPhone. It didn't seem to lag when I had to use it.

I can remember when large 4.3" Android phones first came out, people around me were still saying the even with the extra space, the iPhone's keyboard was still better.

I did NOT!!!!! say multitouch, I said touch. That is a different story and we both know Apple brought multitouch first.

you think we would not have some nice touch screen devices if it weren't for Apple? That is your opinion and you are entitled to it, but I think we would...but we are speculating something we can never get to the bottom of, so I kindly bow out. Carry on.
