Apps automatically added to home screen, even though this setting is unchecked

Forgive me if this question is completely moronic, but I'm new to this network. The auto-add option in the Play settings is unchecked, but each new app is still being added to the home screen. What am I doing wrong here?

EDIT: Sorry for the premature post. I didn't realize that Nova Launcher had it's own "New Apps" setting which adds new apps automatically. Mods can delete this if need be.
