So now that we got a working recovery I'm feeling a little ballsy for another en minutes or so :) anyways I wanted to start this list of apps that I've removed without my phone going into a boot loop. I also wiped cache after all this.
Make sure you make a backup before you start deleting things. One of the big reasons is you might soft brick your device and have no way to restore and you'll end up like certain people looking foolish saying, "I bricked my phone can you post this apk" :D also some of the sprint hiddden menu stuff can be removed but it will remove your ability to use diag mode or certain hidden menus
If your wondering how I deleted these apks I used es file explorer but you can also use adb shell or terminal
S

w_installer.apk .odex (sprint id stuff)
visual voicemail
protips.apk .odex (widget on your homescreen with tips)
Polarisoffice.apk odex
Smartshare.apk odex
maps.apk .odex (google maps)
Street.apk .odex (streetview on google maps)
LiveWallpapers.apk odex
LiveWallpaperPicker.apk odex
MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk odex
VisualizationsWallpapers.apk .odex
Swype.apk *

BOOST SPECIFIC

Mobile id
boost zone

* I only uninstalled the swype.apk to install the beta. If you do so you need to delete the swype.lib in system/lib
once you install the beta it will force close go to manage applications and erase data then uninstall then reboot. After that reinstall and your good to go.

Thanks just removed the ID pack on my boost version that was driving me crazy wondering if i could uninstall it THANK YOU great job!

Thank you for starting this thread. In your list in the first message you have:

w_installer.apk .odex
protips.apk .odex
Polarisoffice.apk odex
Smartshare.apk odex
maps.apk .odex

What do these items do? That is, what am I removing by deleting these?

Also, is it possible to delete gmail or is it needed for other things to work?

Thank you.

you can look in polaris and smartshare but the other apps I put a quick description on the first post. I don't know what would happen if you delete gmail. In the past nothing but could be different.

Is the only way to remove bloatware is to be rooted? I'm running Good and can't root without being locked out.

Yes and what you mean locked out?

I think he's talking about "Good" mobile management software probably required by his employer for enterprise access. Pretty much a big piece of malware that takes over the phone, at least from the user's perspective.

Sorry, I don't know how "Good" hacks their management layer on android, but you need root to customize and if they've done something to interfere with the root exploit for this phone then you're out of luck for now. Your best hope may lie in waiting for easier rom management so that you can have an unimpinged non-"Good" rom that you can boot into for your personal life. Pretty good chance that will become available in coming months i think.

So if i use the ex file viewer and delete the mobile id and boost zone will it remove it from the home launcher? and replace it with the browser short cut? or any other short cut? Thanks
