Does anyone know if 1) Motorola will sell you a new back cover? And 2) is it user replaceable like in the Moto G? My phone is only 3 weeks old but the dam Case Mate Tough Naked case has totally screwed up the back cover beyond repair or cleaning, pits and scratches that are through the surface of the cover. This is s plastic cover not a leather one. Hate my case mate case.

The backs aren't supposed to be user replaceable and Motorola won't sell you one. Having said that, its apparently not too difficult to get the back off. So if you did get hold of another back somehow, it probably would be possible for you to change it if you really wanted to

How exactly did the Case Mate actually screw up your back. I just ordered the Case Mate for my X, seems to have gotten pretty good reviews, but now I'm having second thoughts about using it if this is a common problem.

I thought they were glued on

They're fixed on with strips of double sided adhesive tape I think. So like i say, they'll probably be easy enough to pop off if you try. Then just stick another one on in its place if you've got one.

I have had my phone with the case mate case for 3 weeks, last night I noticed there was some dirt and lint between the case and the back of the phone, I decided to remove the case and clean it, what I found was small pieces of lint, dirt, whatever had actually scratched and pitted the back of the phone. I've owned smart phones for as long as they have been around and never had a case do this. I work in an office, I don't abuse my phones, nothing out of the ordinary, and again as I said, this happened in only 3 weeks. And yes, I bought this case because of all the good reviews I read also.

I had a case on my old phone. Took the phone out of it after a while and I couldn't believe how messed up the back was. Like you say, all pitted and scratched [language]. I looked after my phone too. Stuff just gets in there and before you know it, its ruined your phone

That's a good point. I wonder if this problem is more prevalent with the naked clear case, or is it just that with the clear back, you tend to see the dirt & want to try to clean it out. With an opaque case, you don't see the dirt unless you actually remove it.
