Are We Becoming A Cult?

I have yet to see another person with an EVO. Actually, I only know of one other person with an Android device. Everyone I know has a blackberry. Go figure.
I know a few at work that have Evos. The latest one was a gal I support that literally just had gotten hers a few hours prior. I saw her coming downstairs to the subway platform tapping away on the screen, and I had my bluetooth headset going.
I walked up to her and looked over her screen...she looked at me and I showed her my Evo...her face lit up and she asked what she should be doing with the thing.
Sometimes, tech support truly does suck. LOL.

I've only seen one other EVO in the wild. But we have 3 of them at home. Mine, from launch day. My son has one and my daughter just got a white one. My wife is due for an upgrade September 1. Who knows if she will go with the EVO.

I've run into quite a few people with Evo's now, and I think it is most definitely a sub-group of the larger Android cult. Among Android people I've met, they are all envious of my Evo. They always put theirs out to compare sizes with mine; it's kind of cute.
The funny part is that the Android people I meet are so very different and diverse and don't buy into a certain manufacturer's marketing or image. They got Android because it simply works and does everything without limiting people to one hardware form factor. Android is the future. Anything i-else is old and busted.

I went to breakfast with a friend the other day and he was showing me his new iPhone4. I was comparing it to my EVO and the couple at the next table both had EVOs so we got talking about how great it is. My friend then tried to show off Face Time but there was no wifi connection available. He didn't know why it didn't work but I did. He hadn't even heard about the antenna problem and really doesn't have a clue what he needs an iPhone for.
He had an old employee plan on Sprint where he was paying about 20 bucks a month for unlimited service. I asked him what he was paying on ATT and he said it was only 25 more but it turned out he got the cheapest data plan and I told him that wasn't going to work so he checked his usage and after 2 days he'd already used a 1/4 of his monthly data allotment. Oh well.
My sister in law has an EVO but she really doesn't know how to use it. She just downloads dumb games and wallpapers. She was asking me if I knew of a good music app because the stock one would only play one song. She's not the type that I want to try to teach how to use the thing.
So yes, it's a club, just not one with an entrance exam unfortunately.
