Will you be purchasing a Nexus 6?

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

I voted undecided, I just bought a Moto X and this one is $100 more so probably not because I don't necessarily need it. I might get it for the same price as the X. I also want to see how much the Droid Turbo is on T-Mobile, since it's rumored to not just be on Verizon.

Have'nt you guys considered the weight?
184 grams!
Its a no for me atleast.
I think I'm strong enough to handle that much.

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

Size is my biggest concern though Moto does do a great job of packing big screens in small packages. With the curved back like the 2014 Moto X might not be terrible.

Honestly price is not an issue and I'm quite annoyed already with people complaining about price, obviously you aren't longtime Nexus fans otherwise you would remember dropping $529 for both the Nexus One and Nexus S and $649 on the Galaxy Nexus. Only after the LG releases did it become a "budget" phone.

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

Yeah I will be.

It was mostly the Nexus 6 vs the Note 4 for me, and the Nexus 6 is cheaper, so I'll go with that.

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

I'll wish it was cheaper, but I will be buying it. Probably on At&t next program. As long as they leave it a pure Google Nexus. I want the updates at the same time that the phones on the play store get theirs.

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

I voted undecided, but the "starting at" $649 price tag is kind of a deal breaker for me. I mean I paid IIRC around 349 for my N4 and yes I realize it was two years ago and the N6 is the superior phone but is large increase really worth it. Another issue for me is the size. I want it to be able to fit in my pants pocket. I was kind of hoping Google would take a cue from Apple and release 2 phones of different sizes the they did with the Iphone 6 and Iphone 6 plus.

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

If it supports the Moto Voice always listening feature, notifications, and the wake up just by lifting the phone. Additionally, if the camera really delivers this time. Oh, and the battery life needs to be REALLY good. At this price, it needs to deliver a premium experience. Samsung, LG, Apple, all do.

im not sure what you mean by notifications, but it has ok google, "Even if your screen is off, you can say "OK Google" on devices with digital signal processing support such as Nexus 6 and Nexus 9". and, just found this tidbit, idk what kind of hardware its referring to but, "Where supported by the hardware, your device will wake up as soon as you pick it up or tap the screen twice".
you really shouldnt be expecting certain things you see on other phones though. this is googles phone. not every other oem.

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

I was on the fence and now I am not going to sell my 32 GB N5. If I need a bigger screen I will just go ahead and buy the OnePlus One. The pricing has now moved very close to that of the iPhone and since camera is quite important to me I would rather get an iPhone instead of this Nexus 6. Oh and I am holding on to my 32 GB N7 as well the N9 is too expensive as well.

if youre going to compare it to an iphone, then it should be the 6+, and then the 64gb version (there is no 32) which costs $849 off contract. sooo thats $200 more. i wouldnt say its moved close at all.

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

I'm on the fence. I haven't seen a detailed spec sheet, haven't read the reviews (including both AC and IFixIt.com) and haven't held one.

The price is disappointing but if I really like it I won't let that stop me.

I was glad to hear that they're continuing the Nexus 5. Not selling a more normal-sized phone would have been a huge mistake. (pun intended  )

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

No my N5 can run anything I need still flawlessly. I'll wait for the moto play or perhaps till next year.. 600+ is to much unless I got it on contract but for my preference 6" to big..

How is the n9 to expensive its $400 bucks. With a 9" screen and pretty good specs its obvs not going to be 300 or less

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

Problem for me isn't the price it the screen. Its just to big.

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

Absolutely Im getting the Nexus 6. Going with the Midnight blue. Still undecided if I want the 32 or the 64 gig.

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

Here's how I feel.

Yes, it's impressive Motorola is able to squeeze such a large screen into that footprint. Great work on the bezels. But it's still too big.

Yes, it's impressive the value Google is offering given the device's cutting edge and future-proof specs. But it's still pretty expensive.

Yes, it's a Google phone with direct updates and bloat-free goodness. But other OEMs are upping their game with updates (Motorola, HTC, even Samsung). Also, they're offering near stock like experiences (Motorola especially, and to some degree, HTC and Sony) where reviews have even touted some of the skin's extra features as really adding to the experience. Lastly, don't forget that Google updates their core apps through the Play Store. My point is, we no longer have to freak out over the mentality of "must have stock Android and immediate Google updates!" -- a concern really from the yesteryears of Android.

So, for me, I will pass on the Nexus 6 and only say: It's a damn shame there isn't a smaller version.

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

nope, i skipped the n4 and ill definitely be skipping this.

reasons:
1.) amoled, no thanks.
2.) QHD display, battery hog and overheating. kiss about 750mb of that 3gb of ram goodbye just to power the lcd. i know since i had the g3 for a short time and returned it.
3.) its basically a motox on steroids. i cant believe moto and google were lazy enough not to at least design a new phone.
4.)if the rumor on xda is true and this is going to be $650+ (double what the n5 was) its suicide as people will just buy the note 4.
5.) no x64 but i can overlook that as the 810 isn't ready yet but still.

other than being excited for L and my htc m8 getting the update im going to wait until the m9 comes in the spring.

And we have people complain about the pricing of the iPhone 6/6+ yet still buy no matter what. Not pointing fingers, just something I'd like to point out.
The Nexus 6 will certainly not flop. Whether the device sells like hotcakes is a different story.

I still have trouble adjusting from a Nexus 4 to the Oppo Find 7a, but I LOVE the additional screen size. I can actually read PDFs and study while taking transit.

you get more for your money with the note even though i despise sammy ill say it. plus the note line is more popular and well known. this will only sell to the tech geek community. the price point killed it.

The Nexus devices really only ever sold well to the tech community. That same price point didn't kill the Galaxy Nexus, which was also available only on some carriers with subsidized pricing when it was released. The Nexus 6 will at least have greater availability across all US carriers with subsidized pricing and installment options. I don't think it will do any worse than previous iterations as a result. In fact its greater availability gives it a higher chance of consumer adoption.

I do agree though that it will never touch the numbers Samsung is able to push out but I don't think Google is expecting it to be a run-a-way success. The Note 4 will do very well since it is a very nice device.

Nexus devices at least still have the appeal of faster updates.
