Are you going to switch to the S7 Edge from the 6P?

This. Totally me.

The Nexus 6P is saving me a ton of money which I am loving. Its nice that I spent $500 on a phone that is, in my opinion, better than the $700 competition. :)

And for $500, I am sticking with it I stead of switching every 6 months. It's great!

Re: Switch to S7 Edge?

IMO the S7 is nothing more than an updated S6 with added features. They ironed out some problems from the S6 and added 1 or 2 so called wow factors and that is it. If you want one get one, but for me I have a Nexus 6p, iPhone 6s Plus, and a Galaxy S6 Active that only gets used when i go to work since my job is not an office one. That active was only brought because i needed a phone to handle being rough housed when I'm at work outside in all types of weather. I won't buy another Samsung or any other OEM that i can't get unlocked directly from the manufacturer. I won't get a carrier branded phone because i like to be free and not have updates denied because of planned obsolescence.

Like some i have now starting to move away from this new phone every year mentality and now look for what will give me the best longevity tech wise. Software and security updates play a big part in longevity for these devices and thats something these Android OEM's seem to not get at all. It's funny that now even Microsoft has nutted up and drawn the line of if you won't allow updates then they won't deal with you as a carrier.

Until this changes I will only buy Nexus, iPhones, or Windows phones. With privacy and security being more of an issue I guess i'm limited to a small subsection of phones. We already have seen how all these pledges of monthly security updates have went with these jokers.

Don't forget about the Priv.

I will not be switching. Project Fi isn't supported on the S7...

So on Friday last week.. They got me. That BOGO deal from T-Mobile was just.. So tempting.

You know, Unlike my buddy Darth Kenny, I was able to ward off any temptation really. My wife has her S7 now and I had a good chance to fuss around with it over the weekend... I was a bit concerned that it'd be nice enough to have me wonder if a S7 Edge would suit me well. Nah..I'm good.

Camera: the S7's focus speed is nuts... it might as well be instant since you can't really ever actually see it focus. Insanely fast. But I am results oriented and on the whole, the pictures I get from my 6P are as good as what I see on the S7. Sometimes the S7's pics looked a little bit better composed, sometimes my 6P's shots were. The S7 gets heavy handed with processing things and can result in some chewed up fine details. Not horrible, and at a leave (REALLY zoomed in) that you wouldn't crop your pictures to... but when the cameras in these phones are getting as good as these are, you gotta look at those little things. So while the S7 has a nicer camera app, and it and focus like CRAZY... I'll get the same shots out of my 6P.

It might load the big stuff a little slower, but my 6P still feels more fluid. It's not that the S7 is a laggy beast, its not. It feels pretty nimble, and Touchwiz looks 1000 times better than the Ariel's Grotto themed Touchwiz versions of the past. But Samsung still has a long way to go with optimization... the 6P shouldn't feel smoother, more fluid and agile, but it does. Scrolling apps like the Play Store, or Google+... all are just a wee bit rougher on the S7. Now, if you were coming from an S6 or a G4... you most likely wouldn't notice.

Oh, the FPS on the 6P is miles better.... both in implementation and ease of use.

Would love to, if I weren't still paying for my 6P... This is the first Samsung in a while I've actually felt this way about.

Not tempted here. I love what I'm getting with my 6P for the price. I don't like to be tied to a carrier so unlocked phones for me all the way and I don't need to spend 700-800 bucks for a phone. So S7 looks like a great phone but it's not for me.

Nope, I don't even consider to switch. I'm a Nexus fan and the 6P is all I will need in maybe the next 2 years. S7 is a nice piece of hardware, but the experience in the long term is not even close at what the Nexus offers to me.

Perfectly happy with my 6P. The s7/edge are gorgeous phones, but are still weighed down by Touchwiz and a load of crapware.

I bit the bullet and ordered the silver edge....won't even ship till the 31st. Tried one in store in was blazing fast..maybe a root will come out before then. Can't. Live. With. Bloat.

You won't be disappointed. It puts everything else to shame. I've had it for 5 days

Yup. Love my silver GS7e too. The only things I miss are the louder speakers on the 6P and the flawless fingerprint sensor. Everything else is equal or better on the GS7e!

No way I'm going back to Samsung. I had Samsung Galaxy S3 on Verizon, and it was a mess of battery-eating junk. I had to root that thing to get rid of all of the unwanted Samsung and Verizon apps, and get the battery consumption down to a reasonable level. Knox was the last straw for me, couldn't even use a ROM at that point, although I kept it rooted so that I could keep throwing out apps as I needed to.

The 6P is a great bare-bones Android experience. Really like it, and using it with Project Fi is saving me a bunch of money over Verizon. Even gave Android N beta a try, just for fun. That worked fine with Project Fi, and looks like it's going to be great when it's mature. Even if I was back on Verizon, I'd still use the 6P, so that I had the same bare-bones Android experience there, got timely updates, etc...but I don't see any reason to go back at this point.

Anyways, I really like the Nexus 6P, no way I'm going back to a Samsung phone. Don't have to root it, and the "doze" functionality (or using "wifi only" with Project Fi) keeps the idle battery consumption good. "Aggressive doze" with Greenify also helps, if you're like me...I don't see any reason that my phone should use up my battery when it's idle. Android N has "doze on the go", which is just like Greenify's "aggressive doze"...the phone doesn't have to be horizontal or idle for an hour for doze to kick in. It can be in your pocket, and if it's idle, doze kicks in. On the other hand, if you get text messages or calls in doze mode, they come through. So that appeals to me (and really does work).

I am considering selling my Nexus 6P and getting an S7. The Bluetooth issues in the car are the main thing.

I looked at Greenify for the aggressive Doze feature to use on my 5X. I doubted it worked but by the sound of it I might have to give it a go.
