Are you gonna buy a pixel or the 3 XL

Is the camera the main reason that people buy the Pixel?
Looks like with the money Google has, they could figure what people really want.
A total ground breaking phone.
Bet there are engineers out there that could give that to them.

For me the camera is part of it but so is Project Fi, eSim, quick updates, good support and a design I like ( obviously not everyones cup of tea).

I bought the pixel 2 xl for
1. Love stock android/performance
2. Love the look and bezel/just the right amount
3. Its Google lol
4. Battery life
5. Squeeze
6. Camera
7. Fast updates

I'm looking to get a Pixel 3XL as of today. I wasn't going to but I think I might just pick one up as i don't currently have an android phone and it's nice to have a backup.

I am going to be getting a pixel non xl to replace my pixel 1 xl.

I think this is going to be a more popular upgrade than some may think. With the screen size being rumored the same for the two, while picking up newer processor and other specs.

after blackberry z10, z30 and priv i had several android devices for rent to test. and all (samsung, HTC, Huawei pp.) sucked because of the (immense) bloatware and (no) updates. Pixel 2XL was the one i bought at the end. For now i dont like the notch and i think i miss this one and hope for the 4xl without a notch.
wireless charging isnt something i appreciate anymore. had it 2009 for years on my smartphones and didnt use it a lot.

My old eyeballs are liking the alleged 5.4" display in basically the same size frame for the hopefully the same P2 price.

So what !

Is everybody gonna have to wait till after the Pixel 3 XL is announced then go in the stores to look at the phone before they decide to order one. ?

That's exactly what I'm doing, then I'll decide if I'm just gonna hold on to the P2XL or give the note 9 a try

So better to pick it up sight unseen and then deal with returning it? Why waste the time and effort if ultimately it isn't what you want or doesn't address your needs as well as something else on the market?

If you can't wait, then don't. But asking why others don't do the same isn't your call to make. When the announcement happens I'll look at it and decide if it's worth my money or not, as I do every time I think about upgrading. None of these companies get my money before I have at least some sense of certainty that what they're offering is worth it for me.

These companies should always earn your business, not take it as a forgone conclusion that they'll get it. If you give them license to think that way, then why should they have to make an effort to wow you with their products, they'll get your money regardless. But if they know they have to at the very least make an effort to secure your business, it will ultimately benefit you more than them.

Yeah the camera is a big reason and the UI/experience.

But over time, my Pixel 2 XL has started to suffer slowdowns and really struggles with ram management now, so the pristine experience has been hampered. So I'm not confident in saying the Pixel provides a consistently fast user experience. Other people have been getting performance issues with the phone too, so I hope Google has figured out what the problem(s) were and fixed it for the Pixel 3.

Also, I was unlucky enough to get a screen with a lot of issues; severe blue tint, black crush, screen grain etc.

Plus I personally didn't like the cheap feeling coating on the Pixel 2/2 XL. They covered a nice metal phone with a coating that looks, feels and performs like plastic and just makes it feel cheap to me. Scratches horribly easy, just like plastic does which is a shame.

So on the hardware side, is say the Pixel phones aren't that great and not worthy of the high price tag. They make up for it in software, but even that is starting to fail on me now. Maybe I'll wipe the phone and see how it performs then, but otherwise it performs no better than any Samsung, LG or whatever phone.

Just trying to figure out how some other people make the decision.
Normally I preorder a phone, they call me and I go and get it.
But on the Pixel seems like more people buy it from Google.

Didn't know if they bought it , sight unseen too.
I've only had a Pixel for be a few days.
Don't want to make a mistake if I can avoid it.
That's why I'm asking.

The closer it gets to launch, the more I find myself un-sure of what I'll do

1. keep P2 - absolutely nothing wrong with it, meets all my needs, and then some
2. get P3 XL - old eyes would like the bigger screen - not sure if it would be 2 big to handle easily
3. get P3 - had P1 and P2 - very happy with both

OT - I noticed references to Yankees and "bean town" in above posts. I live 1/2 way between "bean town" and the Yankees, so I am familiar with both.

Thing 1 - the team in "bean town" with the stop sign colored socks suck - period.
Thing 2 - never forget thing 1
:D
