Are you gonna buy it?

Nah. I think the XL shape is less iPhoney than the regular Pixel, but there's not enough there for me to shell out that kind of money. Waiting on the pricing for the LG V20. That's likely my next phone. Then I may circle back to the Pixel link for the 2nd or 3rd gen.

I respectfully disagree :)

AMOLED screens are not always better. There are many people that will tell you otherwise. I am saying, let's wait and see.

What about Google Music? I want to have at least 10GB of my music always on my device. This is difficult on a 32GB device. On my HTC 10, I can store the music on the SD card.
There is only one bottom facing speaker. (unfortunately)

My point is that you are paying for the Google name, with the build quality of HTC.
Why not pay HTC directly and get the better deal?

To be honest though...... the HTC 10 is not the same phone. The Pixel might be made by them but not the same user experience tbh. Hardware is better..... software is better.... experience will be better. I had the HTC 10 ..... nice phone.

I don't know how you can say that hardware and software is better. We do not know it yet. Let's wait for the reviews first..
We know for a fact that the Pixel does not have stereo speakers. We also know that it does not have OIS. We know that it is worse in some specs. It has a faster cpu and runs the latest Android version. This does not make it better than the HTC 10 or other flagships.
Let's wait and see..

At these prices, it might be wise to at least wait for reviews first. Of course then you won't have the excitement of getting it on day one. Guess you could always return it, but it's hard to let go of something sometimes.

Want to so badly.. was about to order. . 3 week delivery.. debated.. now 7 week delivery.. gonna wait for the reviews and go from there. :)

If I do decide to buy one, it will be the 128GB XL (probably in Silver). Coming from a 6P, I'm not happy that Google reduced the screen size from 5.7" to 5.5".

I understand everyone's hesitation due to the price, but for me, it's a non-issue. I like the idea of the V20, but I don't trust LG with their history of problems. I was about to get the Note7 when the battery issues surfaced and the recall was implemented. I have a Samsung tablet and have had the battery replaced 3 times now, so I'm not excited about Sammy anymore. IPhone? No, never, it's not for me. I have never had a bad experience with an HTC phone, and since I buy a phone every 2 years, the price isn't prohibitive. I just want a good phone I can count on. However, I will also wait for the reviews, consumer and professional, before I pick one up, but I'm pretty sure it will be my next phone.

Not sure...still enamored with my note 7. Not spamming, just being honest. Pretty sure spending another 675 after financing this puppy would ensure a painful demise at the hands of the wife. But I am intrigued, and can't wait to see what the testers think.....

Oh I agree..... but I was replying to what you said. But the camera tested better than any other from DxO. Faster processor better camera better software features.

Finally I am going to get a phone free of Samsung's crap. I can't wait. So long as it works on Sprint I have to get one of these.

I one of those that prefers LCD over AMOLED. Amoled is just to obnoxiously popping. Yeah, you can adjust it and tone the pop down, then might as well have the goodness of LCD. Also, only one speaker! At this price I'd of figured a dual. The battery seems less than adequate for a device of this caliber. Will be interesting to see how that shakes out in real world usage.

AMOLED screens are almost always better. No light bleed/backlighting to worry about. The ability to have always on displays is good too.

If you're concerned about space you can get the 128GB version.

Buying the HTC phone isn't a better deal. You're getting a slower phone and an inferior camera with the HTC 10.

The HTC 10 could be slower by milliseconds maybe. It's a fast phone. Not everybody puts that much weight into shaving off fractions in speed as that critical. The cam is the best one HTC has put out. Best out there? Nah, of course not, but damn good and the OIS helps make it so. Amoled over LCD is personal preference. Look at the millions of iPhone users. That could care less and tons of them are as tech nerdy as Google fans. What one person prizes in a new phone another says "meh". Not knocking the pixel, would love to have one. Looking forward to see how it all shakes out.

The Verizon-exclusive news was a big deal to me. Google is trying to downplay expectations for the phone, understanding that it won't sell as well as the iPhone or Galaxy line without a built-in customer base, and the exclusive carrier bit makes sense from a business perspective. However, for me, it means that sticking a Sprint SIM card in the Pixel will be the equivalent of a disaster. Poor call quality, no support for wi-fi calling; this is basically 2015 all over again except it's going to cost me $250 more dollars. And that's assuming I can live with the smaller, 32GB model (spoiler: I can't).

Also, color me skeptical about DXOMark's assessment until I see more reviews. I think DXOMark and a number of others overstated the efficacy of the 6P's camera. For one thing, I find it interesting how DXOMark noted the 6P's very noticeable HDR+ processing delays in their assessment of the Pixel, but didn't once mention those same processing delays in their review of the 6P. Google knows that people are skeptical about the cameras on their Nexus line and doubly skeptical about HTC's cameras. They've made very bold claims about the efficacy of the N6 and N6P's cameras in recent years - and I bought into the hype.

At this point, it looks like I'm going to consider the Note 7, S7 edge, or *gasp* the iPhone 7+. I've made a lot of compromises for the Nexus line in the past, and this is simply too much of a compromise to make.

I feel the exact same way. My credit is not very good, but T-Mobile is always willing to work with me via their Jump program. I'm hoping the Verizon exclusive is a short-term deal, and that other carries will have it within a few months.

Same for me i was thinking when we saw the verzion leak it would be on all the carriers but sadly no
