Are You Happy With Your Nexus 6?

I got my Nexus 6 on November the 18th. I'm 2 months in and absolutely no problems. It's still the best phone I've ever owned by a very wide margin.

Had my Nexus since 12/31 and have been happy so far. Will be even more happier with the release of 5.1 to fix some bugs!

I've enjoyed all the devices I've had that have been called "Nexus". The original Nexus (I still have mine) had a replaceable battery. The rest don't, nor do they have SD storage. That's the trademarks of a Nexus. Just like Sammy's trademark is their home button. I've had Samsung, HTC, Moto and LG phones. Right now I have a Nexus 6 and it does what I need it to do and has great battery life. Your performance may vary depending on use, location and carrier.

After my first week I'm really happy with it. For reference, I used a G3, Oneplus One, and iPhone 6 Plus so the size doesn't bother me. It actually feels really good in hand. My only two gripes should be able to be fixed with updates...

1. The battery is pretty bad. I cannot make it through an entire day and have yet to get anywhere near 4 hours SOT.
2. I keep hanging up on people because the screen doesn't lock when I put the phone to my face.

Otherwise, very happy with this phone. I love Motorola's build quality.

I'm happy to see all the positive reports. I've read good things written by several of you here already. If I felt an overwhelming likelihood that the phone I purchased would not have any of (what I consider to be) the fatal flaws---rebooting, freezing, turning off, or back coming off---I would be ready to go. I started out in my search for my phone and immediately fell in love with the Note 3, to be followed by the Note 4 which was released shortly afterward. But when I heard about "Shamu," I fell in love with the idea of this phone. So I'm a little reluctant to go back to the Note 4, but I am teetering. Either way, there's a downside.

If I go back to Samsung, I will always wonder if I could have gotten a good N6 and be enjoying it's simplicity and ease of customizing. But if I get a bad N6 and they replace it with another bad N6 and, possibly, another, then I'd really regret that decision. Or, worse, I'm afraid it will develop one of these problems and I won't realize it until after the fourteen-day period. I don't use my phone as much as a lot of you (so no worries about the battery), so it's possible I won't see some of these things for a while. Then I'm stuck with a phone which I'd have to send in for repair--except Motorola and Google claim to be unaware of the issues with rebooting, freezing, etc., and evidently don't have the answer yet.

My situation is a little different from many of yours. I do not have a backup phone that I can use if the N6 is away for repair or replacement for a while. Also, when I buy the N6 (or another phone), it will trigger a change in my plan with the carrier---even if I buy the N6 outright from Motorola or Google---and DH will lose his unlimited data. So I don't want to trigger that change to a slightly higher rate and much lower data plan and then end up being one of the unfortunate ones who end up with a problematic N6.

I guess sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and take a chance on things. If one doesn't find out for themselves, he or she will constantly be wondering, what if? My hope is that since Motorola has been made aware of the issues with the device, the will have addressed them by the time spring and summer roll around. By that time, I'd hope things with it will have settled, along with having the latest devices from other OEM's coming out on the market.

Have had it since New Years eve, love it , could not go back to a smaller device now ,came form the S4, love the battery life , screen size and the speakers ,great for two thumb typing , watching videos ,movies etc. I have found I don't use my N7 now at all, my 7 year old uses that now .

Bigger is better.
I'm coming from a Samsung Note 2 so I'm use to large phones. I never used the s pen, seldom used multi window functionality and the radios sucked.. There was no need for an ir blaster because I use the Harmony Ultimate control system and could control my entire entertainment system from anywhere in my house. Since I'm on VZW I had to live with bloatware from Samsung and Verizon so why would I get a Note 4.

I love the N6, no bloat and no features I don't need plus I'm, for the first time, rooted with custom ROMs. I thought I'd miss the external SD card but my 20gb of music fits just fine on my 64gb N6 with plenty of room to spare. The battery did concern me at first but I get a full days use (from 5:30am to 10pm) on one charge using battery saver when I can.

I feel like Ultron when he sings the, there are no strings on me song.

They've already mentioned that they'll take care of the back separation.... Oh, and yes, an expanding battery is a concern, but keep in mind that we no longer live in a world where small numbers of issues aren't made public. One person has their kid's LG G3 suffer a catastrophic battery failure, posts it online and EVERYONE sees it. ERMAGERD! Gee3 battery killz you! Every phone out there... every single one.... somewhere has someone with a horror story about their battery going 'pop goes the weasel'. The chemistry in these things makes for batteries that can hold a TON of charge, but if things go south, well, there's a lot of energy stored in there. It is probably the one component that has received the most testing since it is the one component that could burn down a house.

:)

I've had my N6 since before Thanksgiving... thing's been rock steady.... no issues, no battery inflations, no burn in, back is on tight. I would not hesitate an instant in buying this phone over again if I had the chance, nor would I hesitate to recommend one to someone who won't whine and complain about it being too big.

At this point, unless Google and Motorola address these issues in the coming months and can guarantee quality control, I don't feel comfortable ordering the device sight unseen.
First, the well known and frequently cited fact: People that are unhappy, complain. Specifically the folks that are committed/savvy enough to frequent the forums. Most of us participating here are, by nature, demanding. And we'll let it be known if we are experiencing the slightest problem.

Second, the other well known and frequently cited fact: Every device has its inherent problems. There may be a few defective back plates out there. Other devices ship with a tendency to have dead pixels, or buzzy speakers, or......

Third, and this from personal experience: Moto customer service has been excellent. They are easy to reach, flexible and helpful, and courteous too. I had an issue with ambient display that may have been due to the tech's not understanding how the software worked. A replacement was approved in short order. When the 2nd phone had the same problem, they approved yet another replacement quickly and with no questions asked. Fortunately, I figured out the setting that was disabling the feature and didn't need to go through with the exchange.

I believe you can get the phone, and be confident that in the unlikely event you experience a problem they will step up and fix it for you with minimal hassle.

Manufacturing is not a perfect endeavor. Whether you read about it or not on forums every phone has defective batches and or units that get pushed out the door for sale.

My nexus 4 and 6 both have top notch build quality and so far have had no problems with either knock on wood.

The problem is as humans we give with more weight to negative stories than positive ones.

This phone is an awesome experience so far. No random rebooting so far, no proximity sensor issues, no backplate issues, battery is awesome with basically everything on, beautiful display with no burn in, sound is full and impressive.

Only negative I could give this is the backplate is smooth so it isn't the grippiest. I like using my phone without a case. Luckily my hand is big so it isn't too much of a problem. The small graphic lag I was noticing I believe is a combo of a memory leak and possibly some optimization left to be done. Usually I restart the phone when i notice some slow down and it is running great again.

I think everyone who is interested in this phone should just order it and try it out for a week or two and if u don't like it return it. I think one you try it you will hold on to it.

A lot of good points in your write-up. Curious ... how often are you rebooting the phone to address the small graphic lag?

I've had the Nexus 6 since launch. Love everything about it except the vibration motor. Mine seems to be super loud and rattly. Everything else is near perfect. MY wife has the Moto X 2014 and every time I use that I find it very small.

That is hilarious... That is the only thing I find "OFF" with mine.. I've had it two months and that sucker is powerful......

Not that this has anything to do with the Nexus 6 specifically, but my wife & I have the same setup: she has a Moto X 2014 and I have a Nexus 6. Both of us are very happy with our devices. I too find her phone small, but the form is identical.

yeah I am glad to have this masterpiece from Google! The best thing I like in it is faster charging powered by qualcomm quick charge 2.0.

Love my Nexus 6. No problems, no reboots, etc. I've had it since 11/24/14. Coming from a Note 2, I welcome the size of the display. When I look at people with smaller phones, I feel sad for them. ;)

I have the 64GB model, so plenty of space. The phone is so slim that together with the Ringke FUSION case it's still skinny and I gain a 'grippy' edge and color choices.

I held the Note 4 for about 15 minutes. It felt poorly made. That said, I will consider the Note 5 or 6. Don't use the s-pen or multi-window either.

I didn't quite understand comments about how nice the software was on the Nexus line. Now I do. It's clean.
