Are you still happy with the g4?

There are many things I like about the G4 and most of the time it's pretty awesome, but some times this phone just lags out of no where and starts to freeze p for a few seconds.

Missed taps are my biggest gripe but aside from those issues t does most things right and after seeing the next crop of devices I am not sure it would be worth the jump since it becomes a trade off of features.

Quick charge being one - yes you oneplus.

I am still Happy with mine too. :D
I haven't had the overheating issue that some have had.
I have use navigation but no longer then about 20-30 minutes at a time.
I'm probably the only one ,,maybe still using the stock keyboard on my G4.
I might try another next time though :)

I'm debating on going back to my nexus 6. Only downside would be the camera. I'd miss manual mode. The LG g4 just has a lot of small quirks that get on my nerves. Lag, keyboard stops responding. I just feel like the nexus 6 was a better phone for me.

I feel the same way. The first few days with the G4 were awful. Lag everywhere. I disabled all the apps I could from the stock Apps menu, but it was still slow. I then found a Debloat tool that can disable any app on the phone through ADB. After doing that, the phone is a whole different animal. Lag has been reduced by at least 90%. I see it very rarely now, and mostly when I have taxed the phone with heavy processing. The battery life also improved greatly. I was barely making it to 1 PM, and now it at least gets me to 5 PM. It deep sleeps much better.

I have the T-Mobile version, which usually has less bloatware, but I still ended up disabling a ton of apks, both LG and T-Mobile. Here's the list of things I disabled

Now that the phone works better, I am still missing stock Android because LG really screwed up Lollipop. My main annoyances are:

- Having to swipe to get rid of the lock screen after tapping on a notification, when my Moto 360 is keeping it unlocked through Smart Lock
- I hate the LG lock screen (tied to above)
- Not being able to expand notifications (only the top, latest one is expandable)
- I miss my quick toggles and Lollipop menu
- I miss the stock Android battery status, LG doesn't show WiFi, Awake, Signal Level, etc
- I miss the Google Dialer (the built in search is pretty awesome)
- Quick Charge 2.0 is not as fast as the N6

I do love
- Back buttons. The best. Loved them on my G3, love them here.
- Camera. It really is LEAGUES better than the Nexus 6 in quality and speed. The app is pretty good too, better than FV-5 in usability and speed
- Size
- Leather back
- Notification LED
- Micro SD
- LCD Screen. I prefer cooler tones vs OLED's warmer ones.

The Moto X Pure is definitely tempting me. I really hope the camera performs as well as they say. It doesn't have OIS though, which is a shame because I find it to be a very useful camera feature. I had a Moto X for several months and really like Moto's non-intrusive additions to Android (Active Display works well, although in an LCD device, the battery might take a hit on the new Moto X, wave to wake is pretty useful too, but so is knock to wake).

Just pull down on the notification on the lock screen. You can read the entire message and open with one touch.

Yes people, Android Lag is real.

I think you need to rephrase that. Non-stock android lag is real. I owned 4 different Nexus devices, plus a Moto X (very near stock) and not one of them suffered from lag. Smooth as butter. Don't blame android, blame the manufacturers.

I'll second this. The Nexus 5 is the best phone I've ever owned. That phone did everything well, speedy and great display. Battery and reception was a problem. And reception only became a problem when I moved into a historic building with concrete ceilings.

I love mine and it's the only phone I'd replace it with if I lost this one. The camera is awesome. I'm still trying to figure out the battery usage. Some people get amazing results while others don't. I suspect that it's mostly app related and possibly tied to some apps not running that well yet on 5.1.1. I did do a hard reset yesterday and did not reinstall a number of junk apps that I had before. It was the first day that I never had to put the phone a charger. Even if I have to end up bump charging it, there just aren't that many phones out with a great camera, replaceable battery and a SD card (I'm sick of manufacturers forcing me to the cloud).

Yes. Carrier Lag is real! The G4 stock doesn't lag. I had the International Version and there was 0 lag, but it would not work with Verizon, so I had to get a Verizon version that does lag.

Hopefully in time people will figure out how to eliminate/reduce the lag, even for those of us with Verizon models.

I like my phone- but really for nothing more than the camera and extra storage. I love looking at my pictures on my chromecast after a picture session. It's the best. The only real huge problem that constantly bugs me is the WiFi- it's terrible in my home. All other devices (laptops, desktops, Nexus 6 and 9 etc) are super fast except for my brand new device: the G4. Depending on the camera reviews of this year's newer phones- I might look elsewhere.

That's better, but the extra pull is still extra work that I don't have to do on stock Lollipop.

This is what annoys me:

I prefer stock, but, that's why it's just an annoyance and not a deal breaker. I just wish LG would follow Motorola's lead and leave Android stock for the most part and add some useful features to complement it, not replace it. It would also make updates MUCH easier instead of having to make all the skinned stuff work with newer Android API levels.

Have you tried the Google Now Launcher? It basically turned my G4 into a Nexus 5, which was my pervious phone.

I have a Moto X 2nd edition and it is miles better than my G4(which I'm returning) and I was looking forward to the next Moto X until I seen the size of it. I think the G4 is too big but I found the size of my Note 4 okay but I think that was because I was using it with the S pen a lot. I sold my Note 4 to get the G4 and thought I would like it but the lag and stuttering is ruining it for me. It is better than the G3 I had but not much, plus the G3 felt much better in hand. The black leather bares no resemblance to even the cheapest types of leather, I feels so plastic that I prefer to use the spare plastic battery cover that came in the box.

For now my main phone is my iPhone 6 and Moto X until the Note 5

Besides manual mode would you miss the G4 camera?? For example shooting with both phones in auto mode. Are the pictures really that different

Where do I find "common issues and solutions"? I apologize if it's totally obvious. I can't seem to find it. Would I be able to see it on Tapatalk?

Totally obvious? I remember finding the option for changing the WiFi 2.4ghz/5ghz. Now I can't find it to save my life. Would love some help with that by the way.

But, yeah. Just search for common issues and solutions in the forums. It's there, easy to find.
