Are you still happy with the g4?

Where do I find "common issues and solutions"? I apologize if it's totally obvious. I can't seem to find it. Would I be able to see it on Tapatalk?

If you have Tapatalk set to not display "Notices & Stickies" threads, then it will not appear in Tapatalk.

Totally obvious? I remember finding the option for changing the WiFi 2.4ghz/5ghz. Now I can't find it to save my life. Would love some help with that by the way.

I don't know if you can specify on your phone's WIFI whether or not to use 2.4/5 GHz, but that may be a carrier thing. For me, I went into my router and set up two different SIDs, one for 2.4 and one for 5 GHz -- and then I told my phone to connect specifically to the 2.4GHz SID.

It's very possible I'm wrong. I seem to remember finding that but i very well may be mistaken. I'm sure I can figure out the router thing. Can't be that hard with some research. Thanks man

My router (Netgear, I think) is like yours, I have a 2.4GHz SSID, and a 5GHz SSID. I connect to the 2.4GHz one.

Got my (VZW) G4 on release day in June and haven't looked back from my S4.

It was the non removable battery and no SD card that was the deal breaker for me even though the S6 screen is so nice I don't have any problems with the G4 screen either visually. There are some touch response issues I hope they can fix with an update at some point but visually it is good enough for me. I liked the build design of the S6 a little better too but I wanted to give the bigger screen a shot (liking it) and rear buttons (also liking it).

I've rooted and done a bit of freezing with tibu to get to work on the lag and battery life. Going little by little with that.

I don't mind the stock keyboard too much but have been swapping in Swiftkey once in a while.

Liking the camera a lot. I'm not a huge picture taker so it wasn't really a selling point but now that I do have a phone with a better camera I definitely use it more than I did my S4.

I like the knock on tap to wake feature a lot.

Even before root I didn't have any battery problems unless using high accuracy mode gps or a lot of video playing.

Overall I'm very happy with the phone still.

I think you need to rephrase that. Non-stock android lag is real. I owned 4 different Nexus devices, plus a Moto X (very near stock) and not one of them suffered from lag. Smooth as butter. Don't blame android, blame the manufacturers.

Maybe for phones only. My Nexus 9 definitely has a lot more stutters and lags than my G4, though it's faster when there's no problem.

Okay, that SOT looks pretty poor, but I think it's good. Why?

This was with LTE and WiFi Hotspot on for my ENTIRE college session because the building's WiFi crapped itself and had to rely on my phone for backup.

It lasted the entire session while also having more than enough remaining for some important phone calls.

I'd say the battery isn't the greatest but it's alright for daily use.

There are many things I like about the G4 and most of the time it's pretty awesome, but some times this phone just lags out of no where and starts to freeze p for a few seconds.

Missed taps are my biggest gripe but aside from those issues t does most things right and after seeing the next crop of devices I am not sure it would be worth the jump since it becomes a trade off of features.

Quick charge being one - yes you oneplus.

Yeah, I've never had such a bad touch experience ever on any phone aside from this one. I really hope there is a firmware update that deals with that soon.

Other then that, no issues.

My battery in fact is the absolute best I've experienced since my old BB days.Currently, it's been 36.5 hours since I last charged it and I'm at 73% left. This thing was made in an alternate universe.

I don't see how you are getting 36.5 hours and be at 73% are you not using your phone?? I barely use it at work a few text messages through out the day, phone call at lunch that last less then 5 minutes and then facebook, instagram and emails that just come in when pushed... and I get from 7am to 9pm with the 15% flashing at me and I only get 2 hours of screen on time at max

For just the occasional text and email, with careful cleaning of hog apps after use, it's possible (with the right circumstances and app usage) to get that much standby time. For your SOT, please check out some of the techniques discussed in the battery and access lock threads noted in the Common Issues and Solutions sticky; it's certainly possible to get 3.5 hrs of SOT out of a full charge (that's what I get), and 2 hrs of SOT is extraordinarily low. In particular, for you, I'd look at what sort of synching you've got going on, and also to do a "clear all" of your apps on a more frequent basis.

I find the G4 to be one the best Android phones. The only issue is lag in certain apps and under certain conditions but every phone out there has some kind of glitch that keeps it from being "the perfect phone". I haven't had any other issues at all. Battery is incredibly long lasting and it has never become hot. It all depends on how important those glitches are to you. I go from my Nexus 6 to the G4 and there is a noticeable lag in everything on the G4. If I stay away from the N6 long enough, I stop noticing the lag on the G4.

What really bothers me is that I can't get to my photo album from the camera app. It seems that all you can do is review the last photo taken but you have to actually open the gallery app to see all photos instead of sliding through them from the camera app. That gets to me since I have to use the camera a lot for work. I keep thinking I will get used to it but I haven't in the month I've had the G4. That might be the deal breaker for me.

I don't know about the built-in gallery app, but with QuickPic you can click on the little circle showing the photo you've just taken, now you're in QuickPic, and you can then scroll through the rest of your photos. (I just tried this, and it works perfectly.)

Still love my LG G4 since I got it in early June. Only thing it is missing is not having wireless charging out of the box.

It's definitely possible if you're vigilant with what you have running and when. If I be sure to keep gps off when not needed, data off when at home on wifi or in dead spots, wifi off when not using it, syncs off when not needed, things of that nature. Also I rooted and greenified some things and froze a ton of bloat. I unplugged at 6 this morning and am sitting at 70% now 15 hours later.

That said, if I navigate on anything but battery saver for an hour or so, stream videos for a long while, browse the web for a long time, or spend a lot of time in battery hog apps like facebook etc. That goes buh bye quicker.

If you aren't rooted and a whiz with an automation app like tasker you just gotta stay on top of what parts of the phone remain running is all. Even before root I was just making sure things weren't syncing constantly that I didn't need to be, turning off wifi/data as needed, and was getting way more than enough battery life.

See I don't remember going through all that when I had my Note 4 or my iPhone 6 to get 3+ hours of SOT

Heck...I've been into the 40s several times, 3hrs SOT, some phone calls, some texts.

I've had to fine tune every Android I've had....tourbound is the ninja of battery consumption awareness.
During the first few weeks, it requires some attention and then you get in a groove.
I have no idea if you have spent time looking at that thread and ones like it...but they are very helpful
Anything less than 4 hours sot is disappointing for me

I don't know about ninja but I do appreciate the compliment!

And I agree...there's always tweaking with Android. Every phone I've had, even nexus devices, have been tweaked. Once it's running how I want it, then I'm usually done tweaking and just enjoying my phone. I almost always root as soon as it's available but not yet for the G4. It's running so well, I'm not sure it's needed just yet. Between Debloater Tool and access lock, I have about enough control as I need currently. If xposed and xprivacy makes its way to the G4, I'll probably pull the trigger then.
