Asurion Insurance Claim - Rooted Nexus

What would happen if I dropped my phone in water and it was completely dead, making it that so I can't unroot? Or if I drop it so hard the screen doesn't respond when I touch it or the screen doesn't even work?

Well it is insurance. Supposed to cover your mistakes. It's not the warranty that covers the manufacturers mistakes. So broken or lost you make a claim, I'm sure they don't really care what you did to it as long as you pay up.

You would have to pay the $100 or whatever the replacement fee is then under Verizon's (Asurion's) terms. But in the event they can turn the device on and get it to boot into the bootloader and see its been unlocked and/or custom recovery installed your in a different ball part then for violating the terms of the agreement by unlocking and rooting your device, at that point chances are Verizon & Asurion can/could say we don't have to cover the device at all even with the $100 replacement fee. Which in return leaves you with a nice paperweight and purchasing a new device at FULL retail price since your probably not eligible for upgrade. Of course this is worst case situation but it can and has happened.

Just tell them it's lost or stolen or not recoverable. Tell them you dropped it in a lake it really doesn't matter. They're not going to charge you more if you don't have a phone to send back.

In the area of Insurance your warranty or the state of your warranty can not effect your claim unless they can prove the unlocking or rooting is the cause of the claim. The warranty is a service offered but is not required to be excepted or in any way law binding.
