AT&T HTC One M8 4.4.4 MMS/Group Messaging Issues

It was tweeted by somebody from HTC. The M7 was last Monday, and the m8 should be today.

Can you screenshot that tweet? I've looked through the HTC and htcusa twitter threads and I was not seeing it.

I cannot post the site because I'm new here and need to have 10 posts before being "allowed" to post a link. The website I read about the new Lollipop Update was on technologytell dot com. It was posted on 4-3 so it's current.

Title of the article:
HTC One M7 receives Lollipop on AT&T, One M8’s update scheduled for April 6 :)

Moversi tweeted it. It was in another thread that I started. The link to twitter did not work.

Both my daughter and I have the same issues. AT&T got Lollipop on March 31. As it is going out to some phones they can't give me a date it will be available to our phones. This has been so frustrating. :-\

Still no update yet or nothing officially listed on the AT&T support website.

Correction the Update is finally here! Lets just hope it fixes our problems. I'm downloading mine manually now. Wish me luck!

"Update the Software for the HTC One (M8) (0P6B120)
Update summary

AT&T released a software update for the HTC One (M8) (0P6B120) on April 7, 2015. The update is available to customers to download via Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) and manual download. Wi-Fi is required."

So, the MMS/Group Text issue is not fixed after the Lollipop update! Same issue on both of my phones.
Pathetic!

Really? That's disappointing. I just downloaded the new update this morning and was hoping my text issues would be resolved.

Some are reporting in another thread that the issue has been fixed. Hopefully it is as I was having the issue sending MMS but changed the settings to get it to work. Not 100% working all the time more like 95%, but a fix would be great

Still having issues with texts AND the GPS coming on even after turning it off in settings. I'm afraid I'm going to have return this phone due to these issues. Sorry HTC, I really liked this phone but going to get a Samsung.

Well, got the update to Android 5.0.2 this morning.

Things were going along fiarly smoothly on 4.4.4 after I disable cloud prinitng and the enhanced LTE option.

We'll see if the software update fixes it for good.

Fingers crossed.

I was able to fix the issue!! It wasn't anything to actually do with the Operating System but it was AT&T itself! So basically you may not even have noticed this but if you go to Settings and General at the bottom is Restart ATT Backup & Sync service. Click that and OK and minute later a popup says Sync messages and you do so and it retrieves most of your messages and its a temporary fix however i found the permanent one. That though is what is causing the issues especially for MMS messages and especially ones coming from Iphones. You probably started the service without realizing. For example if you factory reset your phone or updated to new OS it asks you to sync and i guarantee most people didnt realize it was a free add on serivce they were pushing out. So AT&T pushed out this free service on your plan that backs up and syncs your messages in their cloud then pushes to your phone. This is so you can apparently read your text messages on a computer and even text from a computer. What seems to be happening is it is erroring or getting stuck in syncing in the cloud and never reaching the phone. IF you go to the website and log into your account then go to change or manage plan/services. You will see the free service at $0/month. Remove that service from your plan and confirm removal. BOOM!! My wife and I both have the HTC ONE M8 and this solved the issue and havent had trouble at all since!!

So I looked into this and I see the option to turn this on from the messages app but I reviewed my bill and there is no $0 charge for this service.

I still have the issue so I dont know if this is a fix all.

Still having "Sender Unknown" messages with "Message not found" issues...I tried to chat up an AT&T support person today and they said it is a "known issue" and that they are waiting from a "firmware update" from HTC to fix it...FWIW.

I'm wondering if the developer ROM for LP is any different than the one supplied by AT&T...does anyone have experience with both and/or is anyone using the developer 5.0+ ROM and not the AT&T pushed version of LP still having this issue?

Did you log into your actual account online via web browser?? That is the only place i found it not on my bill. You log in and go to the top link that says MyATT and hover over it.. then hover over Wireless. On the left you will see a link that says View My Plan & Features. click on that. then depending on how many phones you have you should see your numbers and phones and a small link under that says manage.. click on that. On the right side it will show features you have. You should see something that says message sync or backup.. something along those lines. click on it then you eventually see a "remove" link and follow the steps. I was having the same issue repeatedly for all text messages. The moment i removed this service they all stopped and have not had one issue since for weeks now.

Holy smokes... after 3 months of frustration over not receiving many group texts and pictures and looking all over the internet your solution worked!!! After clicking off that ridiculous ATT feature I was immediately able to download texts that were stuck on that download box error. Thank you so much Harry!!!

That's not a fix. Maybe it streamed a few messages in from doing that. I turned on the service back in January after the 4.4.4 update that screwed up the MMS service, just to try to see if i could view the messages that way and turned it back off a few minutes later and have had the MMS text issue ever since. The AT&T support does not have a clue at all on how to fix it. They will send you a TEST MMS message and if you get it, they say it's all good....These texts are random, so their TEST message success doesn't mean it's fixed. I continue to have this issue ongoing!
