AT&T HTC One M8 4.4.4 MMS/Group Messaging Issues

I just started having this using Hangouts with SMS linked, AT&T, 4.4.4. Was working fine until today and suddenly I'm getting tons of requests to download message, failed to send/receive errors.

Hey guys, HTC One M8 here. I joined just to say that I got the same issue happening since yesterday and after playing around a bit, I switched off the "enhanced 4g" option and that allowed MMS to come though.

Before they werent coming in at all or coming in HOURS later. Now they zip right through.

Hope that helps!

AT&T had me do that on my initial call to them. It didn't and hasn't fixed anything on my end. In fact, I still have it unchecked after a month or so, and I still have issues.

It's most certainly 4.4.4. I didn't have any issues until i updated to 4.4.4. A friend of mine who has the G3 also had the same issues with 4.4.4 until he updated to lollipop. After that he said all his problems went away instantly. So we're stuck dealing with this until they release an update to fix it or they release lollipop. Not happy at all.

Add me to the list, having major issues with messages not coming in and terrible battery drain due to GPS issues. Not a happy customer right now...on at&t and 4.4.4

Seems I'm getting messages like normal now, noticed the change as of yesterday...anyone else?

Created an account to share what fixed it for me - I installed an SMS/MMS app instead of using the stock one. More specifically I used the Google Messages app. I'm not sure how/why this would fix it but after I started using that my messages started to go through and I was able to download old messages that hadn't expired yet.

Hope that helps you guys, this is a really frustrating problem :(

I have a Verizon M8. I have to have my selected network set to Global; if I select LTE, my phone calls drop. You might look at network settings. Remember, MMS part of texting using the data network to send. I use Verizon's Message Plus app, which I believe will text even in Wi-Fi. Good luck.

Finally created an account so I can join in on the griping. I've been lurking for weeks, waiting, hoping..praying for a solution to this issue. Sometimes the problem solves itself, but whenever group texts start rolling in rapidly, they surely enough fail to receive/download/or become anonymous blank messages. I am extremely disappointed it has been this long without a solution. I am basically fed up with this HTC. I originally loved this phone, but now it has become a big pain in the ****. I am still all for a solution/update, but I am as of now looking for a change...So is this just an HTC issue? or all droid devices on the 4.4.4 update? I am tired of waiting around and not getting my messages

UPDATE:

I got too confident in the new phone and downloaded the 4.4.4. software update on Saturday. The same problem again!!! I went into the AT&T store (not the device support center), and he told me to uninstall the third-party messaging app "Textra" app that I had been using for messaging because he thinks that might be the issue. (Personally I don't think so.)

CrazyCamel...were you using the stock messaging app or a third-party app for messaging?

I've had several people text me as test and only a few go through while others do not. It's been completely random. All people have iphones and so I wonder if it's an iPhone-to-Android thing?

UGH. Either way. I am SUPER frustrated. I am going to use the stock messaging app for a week and see if the issue resolves, (doubt it). If not, I will be making another trip to the AT&T device support center to complain about my issue and I guess get another phone?

Will keep you updated!

Are you still having issues sending mms with Google mssenger?

I continue the same problem. I did all the recommended actions both AT&T and HTC recommended and neither of them fixed the problem. After dealing with AT&T for over 6 weeks they finally submitted to giving me a replacement phone. The phone worked for four days and then started giving me errors again. I have tried using hangouts, Google messaging, and default messanger to no avail. Frustrating that nothing seems to work.

Same issue is happening with my HTC M8 too. I'm on 4.4.4 also, and ATT is my provider. This sucks. I just started having this problem a few weeks ago, that I'm aware of. I began getting anonymous texts, cannot download text photos and group texts do not all come through. I and I'm sure you all, paid a lot of $$$ for your phone plus pay a lot each month for service, right. C'mon HTC and ATT - quit jerking us around, your making a ton of $$$ off us and this is ridiculous.

... but whenever group texts start rolling in rapidly, they surely enough fail to receive/download/or become anonymous blank messages.

Yes, this. I group message with another 5 or 6 people that are all using iPhones and I imagine their messages are going through iMessage. Whenever the conversation picks up pace and everyone is sending messages in rapid fashion, that's when I notice I start to get the links to download messages that never transmit, or things pop up as "Anonymous". However, I also have problems with conversations where individual messages sent to a group over the course of hours never come through.

Since this started happening at the end of January with the 4.4.4 update, I've replaced my phone, SIM card, talked to someone with HTC technical support, numerous AT&T technical support and customer service reps., but to date, nothing has fixed the issue. Again, if you have not contacted AT&T to report this problem with your phone, please do so we can continue to raise awareness about it and hopefully escalate it to a team that can do something about it.

I have a HTC m8 w AT&T. All the same issues you guys have. The anonymous messages, the download messages that won't ever download, receiving messages days later, not receiving messages at all - primarily with my group messages, but I have also experienced it via sms. It's with iPhone and other android users. Called AT&T - walled me through a bunch of steps that didn't work, performed factory reset-didn't work, provided replacement phone - still having issues. I tried to avoid the 4.4.4 update with this replacement phone but somehow it updated and having issues. Yes, it's EXTREMELY frustrating. I'm tempted to continue to complain to att and they can keep sending me a new phone till someone actually does something about this. What a complete waste of money.

So, I believe my issue is resolved with Lollipop. I decided I was sick of the bloatware, rooted my phone, and installed the Developer ROM. So far, I have no issues with any messages, using stock app, and group messages with a combination of android/iphone. If you can hold out until the 5.0 update, I think all your problems will be gone. I have not tried google sms yet, by I may switch back to it since I did enjoy it over the stock sms app.

Recently returned from an AT&T repair center in Dallas. The tech first uninstalled updates in the cloud printing app and disabled it altogether. My group texts immediately began to drop in. It's been four hours and I've received group MMS messages from my colleagues around the globe and all seems well. Don't know if anyone else noticed, but I only had group MMS issues with people operating iphones.

Hope this works for everyone else.

I will try anything once. Uninstalled the updates to the Cloud Printing application and disabled it.

Like you, I'm only really experiencing issues with iPhone users (as best as I can tell). So I'm not sure what would have changed with the 4.4.4 update and how Android obtains iMessages, but prior to the 4.4.4 update I didn't have these problems.

Well, wish I could say uninstalling the Cloud Printing application updates and disabling the service made a noticeable difference in my MMS woes, but it has not. Still receiving messages from "Anonymous" with the content "Message not found".

I think this just affirms my belief that this is some resident issue with the 4.4.4 Android OS that I can't expect relief from until AT&T pushes 5.0...
