Depends which deal. For the trade in deal you don't because you didn't even identify what phone you are sending them. When I purchased i provided no information on the trade in. You just have to send them any qualified phone.
Actual you have to call in and tell them the new trade in phone. Tell them the IMEI condition of phone etc and get a new shipping ‘box’.
The sim that comes with it has to be activated by calling at&t. But you can swap sims and you'll be fine. That activates it.
Traded my Note 8 in for the Note 20. Got the $1000 trade in credit, so I have no monthly payment for the phone. Only had to pay about $90 (sales tax + upgrade fee). Can't beat that at all. And I just took the Note 8 into my AT&T store 2 or 3 days after getting my Note 20. Was pleasantly surprised with how simple the whole process was.

Not sure what a "corporate store" is. Took it back to the same store I did my pre-order from. Just a regular old AT&T store.Did you return your phone to the corporate store? A lot of us still waiting for the box and info needed to be send to us.
I originally was going to trade in one of my iPhone X BUT I love my iPhone and also Samsung Notes so I changed it to my Pixel XL!!! But idk what I’m going to trade in for the Fold 2 as when I was trying to find an acceptable trade in for the note 20 they said that my S7, V30 (idk if there were others?) were not acceptable so I may have to part ways with one of my iPhone X. I hope Apple is more accepting of more phones when the iPhone 12 comes out lol. I’m definitely not trading in my note 8 or 9.
Trading in at a store is the safest way to go.So I went into an AT&T corporate store and traded in both of our Note9's for the $1000.00 promotion credits towards our Note20 Ultras. It went very smooth, in and out within 15 minutes. Such an excellent deal.

Ah, good to know. I'll just wait patiently for mine. Thanks man. Finally, the AT&T return shipment package arrived.
A lot of stores are regular retail stores owned by anyone. Corporate stores are usually larger, and have more pull with AT&T on deals, etc.
Non corporate stores will have authorized at&t retailer on the front of their store.Ah. Got it. My local store is a decent size store, but nothing compared to others I've been in that are located in/near major metro areas. So I'm going to guess that mine is just a regular AT&T retail store. Thanks for the info.
