The att deal applies to upgrading a line. The thread is discussing an additional discount when adding a new line. Two different things.

I'm confused. When I was in today asking about this. They offer this$1000 credit on the 30 month installment and the ATT next up installment with the 15 month upgrade for$5 extra a month. I'm going back tomorrow to make sure.

If you do next up you can hand the phone back in 15 months in good condition and upgrade to a new phone with financing and it will wipe out the rest of the 15 months in payments. I work for AT&T

Yes. I called AT&T about it and it was a pretty common question. If I understood correctly, the rep said that it should take effect on the 2nd or 3rd bill.

Yes I think your view is correct. In my experience be prepared to wait. ATT can take several months to start the credits.

Usually they are on time, 1 to 2 regular billing and then get a huge credit.

I just canceled and did it through rakuten, and you get an instant $150 into your paypal account once you purchase it extra as long as you go through their site. Woot!

I don’t remember the last time AT&T offered a good deal except when I got my iPhone 1 and the data plan was $20 I believe. Timing was right and had to jump on this.
