I've had it happen to me. Twice yesterday the phone froze and wouldn't do anything. I wasn't doing anything exciting, just playing with it. Once I did a battery pull and the other time I just did a hard reboot.
Atrix just randomly shut off and fingerprint scanner stopped working!

Are these things just happening at random? What were you doing when it happened? What was the last thing you did before it happened?
It happened to me today but only after coming off of an "unapproved" charger that wouldn't charge my phone. I got the lightening bolt in the icon but it never put added to the charge after 20 minutes.

I think I need to pay closer attention to what's going on with my phone. This is the second issue I've had with it and didn't properly document what I was doing at the time. I want to contribute more substantially to this discussion, but I wasn't really paying close enough attention. I just assumed that it was just something random and isolated. If this is happening frequently to everyone, then it isn't random or isolated.
I just encountered my first random reboot. I was looking at a google maps window within tweetdeck when it happened, and now my fingerprint scanner is non responsive.
Woke up this morning phone would not turn on, completely dead. Had to pull battery to reboot. Battery had 80% charge.
Both times it happened to me the phone was just sitting next to me with the screen off in I guess what we call idle mode and out of no where it just rebooted... hope this helps
my atrix fingerprint reader stopped working after half day. i had to pull out the battery to make it work again. once it works, it works well.
I just got another reset on mine today. Listening to music player over bluetooth and went to skip a song and it reset. Most of my resets seem to come when using bluetooth
This happened a couple times to me today. Once while I was running (I was using CardioTrainer and BeyondPod), and once right after I unplugged it from the wall. It would get extremely sluggish, then finally wouldn't unlock at all and would completely freeze. The fingerprint scanner is currently unresponsive.
Not true. My Droid X used to do the same thing, it would randomly reboot itself. I think its a safety feature in android. What i think it is doing is clearing the cache so you dont have a crash. Also android has its own task killer built in.
Well...I have had my Atrix for a few days and now twice in the past 14 hours or so the phone would not power back on after touching the power button. This would be after some idle time either in my pocket or on the table.
It would come back on after some furious button pushing.
The first time the finger scanner had to initialize and it would not let me unlock my phone.
Strange for sure and seems random. But both times it happened I wan't even using the thing!

Having the same problem. First happened yesterday afternoon and has happened three times since, including just a few minutes ago. The phone was idle and sitting on my desk. Battery is at 90%, I picked it up to check my messages and it was off, Pushed the power button, nothing. Held the button nothing... etc... Only way to get it back on was to pull the battery and replace it.
This is getting annoying.
I have the phone for about a week now. My first android handset. Randomly reboots for me as well.
Had the atrix since launch day. Thi sis just started happening to me now. It seems to be a very very bad lag. Fingerprint sensor stopped working. Battery pulled about 3 times.
I also had the Atrix since launch and this just happened to me yesterday. I had to pull the battery out to make it reboot. After that is was still sluggish, will not wake up when pressing the power button, and the fingerprint scanner will not respond. Has not happened today but I am concerned.
I see more and more ppl are having the same issue.
I called AT&T and they said they haven't heard about this problem! check Motorola support forum i can see tons of people complaining about either Random reboot or shut downs.

The phone shuts down itself even if it is connected to charger, but AT&T thinks it is a battery issue and they are going to send me a new battery!!! I guess I have to wait to get the battery and then I can ask for a new phone.
This phone is the only reason I stayed with EVIL AT&T and renew my contract with them, so I wonder if i can cancel my account now?

My 1st atrix did this. Sometimes 5 times in a day. I would try not to run anything and it would still do it. The one I have now has a screen that goes haywire. The replacement for that one is on the way. A great phone but man it has some issues..
