Atrix Pre-Order Issues

For those of you that upgraded with your existing AT&T account, did you have to pay an upgrade fee? and how much was it?

I am a premier customer. We have perks.

We still can get unlimited data without grandfathering (but at 45 bucks a month)

really? Technically I can be a premier customer but just never went that route cause I've had this family plan for a looooooooong time lol. Oh well, $18 ain't too bad. I'll prob haggle my way down the phone price or get them to throw in goodies for me like my last phone :)
 
Sometimes they will waive the upgrade/activation fees.
When I called to check the status on my preorder, the CSR told me that my Atrix was on backorder along with 6000 others.
My online status has never showed it backordered.
 
Yeah the $18 isn't part of the phone price, it's added to your next bill unfortunately. I should be listed as a Premier user as well since I was able to order through the Premier site...wonder why I still had the $18 fee?
 
Does anyone actually think the launch of this device will go smoothly? The preordering process was handled terribly and the customer service reps still have no idea what's going on. I'm willing to bet that people will be able to walk into stores on Tuesday and pick up the phone while most of the preorders will still be unfulfilled. Just my opinion though.

Hopefully, this is not the case. Given the fact that ATT has been through multiple pre-orders for devices before, you'd think that they'd have the process down. I'm hoping things still go (relatively) smoothly from this point forward.

I half wonder if they didn't just underestimate the demand for the device since it's not the almighty iPhone?
 
Everyone pays the $18. Premier doesn't have any perks. If you didn't pay the $18, it was because you talked to someone and they waived it.

BTW, my order is still "processing" and listed as back-ordered. I think pre-ordering was just a big waste of time, and given that so many places are apparently selling the device for $150...a waste of money too.

starting to feel the same way about the pre-order hassle, i'm starting to believe i should've waited for launch day. and saved $50 to boot!

I'm with you. I don't mind the extra $50 since I was under the impression by pre-ordering directly from AT&T would get the Atrix in our hands quicker than any other avenue. This does not appear to be the case now, but hopefully AT&T proves us all wrong.

I was on the fence about pre-ordering so I waited until Monday, 02-14 and actually called to pre-order mine so I could bill it to my account. The order has shown back order all week, even got an email from an actual human at AT&T Premier advising it was back ordered and I should call to select another device. About 5 minutes ago the order status updated and now shows "In Process" with the back order removed.

I logged on to my premier account and the new number assigned to the Atrix now shows up on my account as "Reserved". It appears to me AT&T might actually have this pre-order under control now and shipping should begin today. I am hopeful we all get shipping notifications today, otherwise there is no way it will arrive before all of us can walk into a store and buy it directly.

I am also scratching my head trying to figure out the huge bump up in release date. Something happened, or something is about to happen which caused AT&T/Moto to get this device released and in consumers hands much quicker than originally anticipated. I don't mind at all, believe me, I want this phone.

That's not true premier customers do get perks depending on the corporate customer they work for there are things negotiated with att example i get 30% off my bill and i get 30% off all accessories excluding iphone's and i also get waived activation. :-)
 
btw i just checked my online account for status where it used to say back ordered now it just says ordered!

I suspect they are trying to get the Atrix on the market before the Thunderbolt is released. If AT&T could take some market share from the Thunderbolt - it would justify the early release.

But also - when the phone pre-orders were announced AT&T said "March 6 or sooner". So - they tipped their hand that it might be sooner than March 6. So - while the 22nd surprised me - I expected it to be available prior to March 6th.
 
Yup, back ordered. I've been on hold for 45 mins waiting to talk to someone in Premier customer support to get an answer as to why the pending on my checking account changed from $274.09 to $231.10 today.

While you're at it, see if you can get more info on the shipping/back order situation. ;)

I'm sure you were already planning on that, though.
