Not that it's a gutsy bet but I expect to hear a date tonight on the Engadget show. Pre-orders will start Monday 9/8, launch on 9/22. Stores will receive the units early and sell them going into the weekend.

An Engadget exclusive would def be in their best interest. Dates are always dates, but you think they'll soft launch the sucker on Friday into Sunday? Interesting... Haven't seen them soft launch a "high profile" device since the Instinct.

sphinxx, August 20th is the day that Samsung TV is supposed to reveal the phone. If the other times they've done that (Samsung TV announcements) are worth looking at, the phone will come out almost day-and-date with that show.

Samsung TV could change the date...

Yeah, White Evo was just a promotional thing, I don't see that as being a soft launch either.

I like the Engadget announcement hype, and truthfully... this isn't the first time I've heard of it being a possibility.

So I just got off the phone with a Sprint rep and she was 100% positive that the Epic will be coming out on the 20th....she also added that the Evo was on back order until the first of next month.

I talked to my dad's friend and he told me that he spoke with his nephew, who talked to his friend who is ALSO a Sprint customer rep and she said the release date is August 37th.

My 3rd cousin from Puerto Rico, who I just met over Facebook today, also confirmed the 20th, but when I asked about the 37th, she confirmed that date too.
