Not to be rude or disrespectful but we have heard numerous people making numerous claims about "knowing" people. I think we are all waiting for an official release date at this point.

Hence, silly season. Let it consume you or just have fun with it. ;)

I'm think if my memory serves that I'm pretty sure that I once read in a forum that some guy knew some guy who said that they were speculating that the release date could possibly be on August 20th.

My information may not be 100% solid, but it's what I'm going with for now. :p

My "real" name is Rodney Samsung... I will release the Epic 4G next Sunday for your consumption.

You are welcome!

I know a guy who knows a guy that works for Samsung. He said that the reason they haven't released the Epic is they spent too much money on X-Games advertising ;)

I, for one, am glad I don't get to upgrade until September. I really couldn't care less when it gets released, as long as they don't get sold out(judging by how there are Vibrants/Captivates everywhere, I doubt that will be an issue).

Went to the Sprint store earlier today to play around with the EVO (my upgrade is 10/1).

I like the EVO but I can't stand HTC's call interface. It sucks on my Hero.

I talked to the Sprint person there, she was pretty nice. Compared the two phones for me, and for what I want, the Epic looks to be the winner. I asked about a release date, she said late August/early September.

I bet it's August 20th ;)

People asked me via PM about GPS and the EPIC. It was flawless for me... fired right up in Sprint Nav app and locked on in about 30 seconds. I moved about 40 feet outside and sure enough, it tracked even foot movement. Went over into Maps and did a walking route... same results. I don't see that being a problem like the Vibrant / Captivate is having.

I talked to Jerry... and we both believe the aGPS is helping the GPS chip get a solid lock and maintain that lock. GSM aGPS has been known to be... less than stellar in the past. There is NO reason it should be sucking this hard for those devices though, and Samsung needs to def tweak it to get an aGPS lock much quicker to help the GPS standalone.

Nope. Just fortunate enough for a hands-on.

My bad, I'm new so I wasn't able to read around entirely :p

I'm VERY excited for the DLNA compatibility. I've got a Samsung DLNA-compatible plasma HDTV, so it'll be interesting to see what I can do with it.
