Plus, you see how Engadget was talking about GAAP? That's a whole can of worms that just... ugh.

/Finance major working in Accounting here. I *hate* GAAP. That's why I love working in a private company.

Hah, yep, they just updated it. Tricky stuff, which is why I called them crooks ;) Isn't Q2 where you bury your dead bodies at anyway?

How would you even begin to make that work? dual mode towers? I think they'd have to wait for a 4g standard but even then you have to support GSM and CDMA phones for years. Sounds like a logistics nightmare.

Indeed it would be. I believe it would be T-Mo being sold to Sprint though, since they want to see off their USA division and focus entirely on their European brand. So... CDMA? with the hopes of LTE being the unifying relationship.

Do we know that the LTE standard is SIM based or was that just how VZW decided to do it?

Or just a partnership for LTE but both companies keep their respective 3G tech...

I honestly hope that the september release I got was correct so I dont have to worry about not getting a phone when my upgrade is ready. But if it comes out sooner well then I guess Ill have to beg and plead to use my upgrade a month earlier or just buy the phone outright.

I was in another forum and someone posted a link to a video on Samsung Support TV, SAMSUNG PRODUCT SUPPORT TV - Samsung Galaxy S. It's a link to a video about the Vibrant, but when I scrolled down the page, I noticed that the next episode is for the Epic and will be airing on Aug 20. The other episodes began airing on the dates the Vibrant and the Captivate were released. I wonder if that is a clue to the release date?

Isn't this a release date forum? You guys went on and on and on about nothing even close to the topic.

Actually, the Vibrant was released July 15th and the Captivate was released the 18th, so this helps us get a better picture of when it may come out. Thanks for the heads up!

So we can say that the phone should be released in the next 28 days. C'mon guys! We got it down from 60 to 28 days; this is getting exciting :) Finally, some action in the forum.

Easy, i think. Turn all of sprints towers into LTE, leave tmo towers as gsm with hsdpa+. Kill cdma in the long term, but obviously keep it around on sprints existing towers for existing customers. Hopefully europe will get LTE soon as well and tmos weird frequencies stop being an issue.

I'm in the same boat. I want it t come out in september so that I will be eligible to pre order.

I cant even beg and plead, since my local sprint store is not corporate, they probably wont even get the epic until december, if even then. Not only do they still not have display models of the evo, the guy said that he couldn't even put in an order for one. The worst part though is thatch they have a giant EVO 4G banner outside, except my city doesn't get 4G, and the only place to buy an EVO is at the corporate store in the next town.

That's a friday though and their phones have been coming out on Sunday. So maybe the 22nd? :)

Very interesting...

This just in... it is day time until it becomes night.

huh? Dude you're missing my point by far. All I was saying is when I heard "released this summer" the first thing I did was wiki when the last day of summer was. Most normal people wouldn't take it that literal because they aren't as anxious as I (or most here) am/are.

But yeah... good post mod. ;)

Actually the Vibrant was a soft release on the 15th, the official release date was the 21st and the Captivate was the 18th, so these videos pretty much are spot on with the release date. And the 20th is a Friday and the Evo was released on a Friday as well. Im calling it now, the 20th will be the date....

I'm just anxious. I'm eligible for my upgrade on Aug 1 and I'm ready to chuck my Pre...The constant hanging is killing me. So, I'm really hoping for an Aug release date.

That's why I still kept the date at the 20th, thus, 28 days at the most.

Which fits perfectly into my "a few weeks" theory. Oh man, this is basically official right now.

Call Sprint, the cat's out of the bag here.

(I'm only half joking btw, I'm completely onboard with this August 20th theory.)

I don't understand why they are waiting to announce a date. They should give a date that they are sure they could make and if it is ready sooner then great!

Sprint sold over 95% of their towers and now they lease them.
