HAHA, I don't know, I'm a pharmacist, not an economist. They said they sold something like 60,000ish Evos nationwide release weekend. I don't think this phone is hyped nearly as much as the Evo, simply because you can get a similar experience no matter what carrier you choose. Its not really being hyped on Sprint's site. The only people who really care are the Geeky people here, People coming from a Pre that refuse to try a touch screen keyboard. I don't see this phone pulling people from other carriers. I think they should be fine supply wise with half as many. While we've seen Galaxy S commercials, there aren't any carrier specific commericals (in fact the one in the commercial isn't even sold in the US). It depends how much Sprint wants to spend to push this phone. I guess we'll see closer to launch... tomorrow isn't looking good for a release date![]()
I think it will pull some people from other carriers (such as myself). I personally am fed up with the iCrap that I'm being fed over on AT&T. My coverage is good but I do experience frequent call drops. I had the iPhone 4 for a day prior to returning it. At first AT&T tried charging me for restocking. That has since been waved.
Nevertheless, this phone does have some key features that currently no other phone is offering. However once the Droid 2 launches the one key factor to me (slide out keyboard) is gone. Then at that point you really have to want the Epic.
I get nervous reading numerous horror stories about people's Samsung phones in the past. However companies can improve. I wouldn't have owned a Ford 5 years ago but now they're leading the pack in a lot of categories.
I'm sure there's people that study statistics that know much more about these things then I do. I just can't for the life of me understand the rationale in waiting so long to get this phone out. To me I would think that they would do whatever it takes to get it to market before the Droid 2.
