You don't know me from adam, maybe my wife has her own account not under me for certain reasons that maybe none of your business but what you think makes no difference to me. I like getting phones at best buy for my wife, she wanted to keep her old plan since she and her mother are on it together.

translated "I don't care what you think about me now here let me try to explain myself so you'll believe me again"

Pick a conviction and stick to it.

In other news I had planned to return my EVO Saturday and use me pre until the Epic came out. That changed when I broke my screen on my EVO on Friday. Looks like the GF will get my EVO when I pay full retail for an Epic. Which sadly looks like September more and more everyday.

The phone may not come with 2.2 but since it's coming out so late I bet we won't be waiting to long.

Time for a new thread maybe? Seems this one has turned into a witch hunt that was successful. SO either move back to the topic at hand or take it to PMs.

ATT has no high end phone? Umm, iPhone? You and I may not think it is the cat's meow, and may not want ATT to bleed us dry, but that doesn't change reality that it is the go to device. ATT can sell 5 or10x as many iphones even if EVO and EPIC were flowing -- and make more for the next two years on each customer.

Scale and status matter. The scale of the iphone means one is learning an UI that is ubiquitous, that apps will flow, etc. Hey I think TP2 running WM6.x is better than iphone, but I also know why huge numbers of people that move the smartphone market place and market share prefer iPhone. It is part of an entire ecosystem:. itunes/ipod/iphone/ipad

Status also gives value to the buyer. It used to be that in business and social meetings that your watch, you class ring, in the case of women their jewelry etc were personal adornment sof status symbols. You may think that is unimportant, and I wish it were os, but Status symbols are important and do give a benefit to those with them. people find those adorned with status symbols more attractive (and I don't mean just sexually, I mean jattractive in all senses including business), more believable, etc. The iPhone still dominates and will convey top status. (I am not saying I like it but simply I know it). Even the fact that ATT costs more conveys status in some ways.

Also Sprint is not ATT or Verizon. Sprint is an also ran. It is troubled. The way its last quarterly numbers were spun as a win doesn't change the fact that they lost in contract customers.

Verizon will be serving 4g LTE to as many customers as Sprint's betamax wimax in a matter of months. Sprint will be in a very bad place when makers of handsets tell them: "no wimax version." Wimax won't be just a smaller but high demographic and robust alternative as CDMA is to GSM, it will be betamax. Some parts of conversion to LTE for sprint will be smooth and others are potentially VERY messy and costly.

In short Sprint's advantages in windows and opportunity are smaller and of shorter duration, transients, and it Sprint that needs its top end phones out there much MUCH more than ATT and Verizon.

Im trying to figure out why I was quoted for this response. No disagreeing or anythign just simply wondering why my response relates to this.

Talk about being caught up in your own lies...

they haven't had an event for 90% of their high ended phones and it is strictly exlucisves.,which their version of the Galaxy isn't entirely.

There are also a couple of compelling possible reasons for a dealt specific to the epic at this time.

1) Waiting to build up stock. Especially given pent up demand for 4g evo. this could mean lots of people buying an epic and swapping out for an evo within 30 day costing sprint huge amounts of money. It is conceivable they are waiting to have a decent stock of both

2) closeness of 2.2. It is possible they are testing 2.2 anyway and having the maker do the installation is easier and involves less support than after sales updates

See I think samsung has already been ramped up for demand and ready to move. Samsung is a HUGE company and I think they are more then ready. Honestly I think it is just sprint doing the usual dragging of their feet for no apparent reason. Testing for 2.2 can be done with a released device much better as the user base can help target issues and concerns. SPrint is advertising the phone with 2.1 and that is probably what they will ship it with (hopefully OTA 2.2 will not take too long to release). I think the following could be to blame for the delay in releasing the phone:

-Sprint is waiting for the 11th to steal the stage from he droid 2 (highly unlikely)
-There is a problem with the phone (highly unlikely as samsung is pushing the phone on their website and seems more then ready to release it)
-Sprint is dragging their feet for an unknown reason
-Worried about supply and demand (unlikely as samsung seems more then ready and is a very large company that can produce alot of products fast)

Other then those reasons I just dont see anything that could cause the delays. But then again take what I say with a grain of salt.

I live in a relatively small city. With that being said even on our scale I know the longer they wait the more sales they're missing out on. I have multiple friends awaiting EVO's. I keep trying to tell them to wait for the Epic. The immediate question I get is. "When is it coming out?". To which I can't even give a real answer to. Well, I know a guy on a forum who technically I don't know, says he knows a guy who once worked for Sprint that says he knew a guy. lol

So I take this with a grain of salt- but I asked my local RadioShack since I had to drop off an old battery (safe disposal). I asked if he had heard any chatter on the Epic launch and without batting an eye said "his rep told him September for a back to school launch". I commented how I thought it wouldn't sell at all if they waited till after the Droid 2- and he just smiled, shrugged and nodded in agreement.

I really really hope he's wrong for Sprint's sake.

ALSO- back to school sales are in AUGUST- once you're BACK TO SCHOOL (Sept) you've already got what you need.

I seriously hope that's not really Sprint's marketing team strategy.

If they are doing September, it's not *for* a back-to-school launch. That's them screwing up August and using the guise of a "back to school launch" to try to explain it and make it seem less rtarded.

Yeah I keep updating my brother and mom and follow that with where I heard it from and they chuckle. At this point Im just waiting for an official release date as Im tired of all the sub 10 posts people posting their speculations.

It is pretty sad how many one hitter quitters we get. I originally joined here to become part of a community. Not try to look cool by telling some lie. I don't understand the rationale behind blatantly spreading BS.

September, while likely just means sprint screwed themselves yet again. Will I be surprised? No not at all.

Pretty much! LOL back to school in September is like having a Christmas sale in January!

Its along the same lines as what sel1965 does.Forums are well known for people to lie behind an online avatar for fun. It just comes with the territory...

Honestly this site seems pretty cool and easy to weed through the BS posters.

REALLY? Does that perhaps mean the Epic will get possibly different 4G reception than the Evo? (Not necessarily better or worse- just different.)

Personally, I wasn't crazy about how sensitive the EVO microphone was- even when using bluetooth devices- people complained they heard a lot of background noise when I had evo. Using the SAME BT devices on my Palm Pre I had no such complaints. I'm hoping Epic is improved in this sense as well as overall reception- 3G/Wifi/4G/GPS improved performance in any of that regard would be much appreciated... interesting that the 4g would be different if both phones were destined for Sprint...

My gf's mom who is a school administrator had to report back to work today, so... Wednesday? :P 20th is around when most people would be heading back to school, we in Florida go earlier and get out earlier. College for me started later though, around the 20th of August (give or take a few days).

hahahahaha, good call

The only back-to-school I can think of would be universities on the quarter system (as opposed to the semester system). Not exactly the largest target market, hah!

I find it kind of funny that when it was late June, people rumored a July release, in July people started "hearing" a release for August, and now that it's August people are "reporting" a September release. Don't you see? I have a feeling that no one Sprint rep or salesman has a clue when the release will be. They all probably read these forums like we do and get their rumors that way. Sprint will release when they are ready, but as for now, I don't think anyone has a clue as to what the real date is.:D

Well that's an interesting theory... I think what you're saying is that this phone will be released a month after we've exhausted the last synonym for "reporting". According to thesaurus.com, there's well over 30 synonyms. We're screwed.

It has been delayed. At least until the 20th maybe beyond that. Original release was the 8th.

At this point I feel as though another droid phone with a qwerty will arrive before this one and I can say that if its decent Ill be buying it. I have no loyalties to the epic, especially with how vague things have been. So if something pops up on sprints network before it is released Im grabbing it.

Well youre a mod therefore I cannot call you out in fear of being deleted or edited out of existence here. :p
