Aug 11th "Official" Release Date?

At this point I feel as though another droid phone with a qwerty will arrive before this one and I can say that if its decent Ill be buying it. I have no loyalties to the epic, especially with how vague things have been. So if something pops up on sprints network before it is released Im grabbing it.

Well youre a mod therefore I cannot call you out in fear of being deleted or edited out of existence here. :p

I have no loyalties to the Epic either, but I'm stuck on Sprint, so as long as Sprint doesn't have anything, I ain't gettin' anything.:)

I am not stuck with sprint I just prefer their network to others and like I always say I dont NEED the coolest phone. If something like the epic or droid comes out Ill snag it and not even think about the epic. Although I would prefer to get the epic, I am taking the first mid to high level landscape android slider that comes to the sprint network.

It has been delayed. At least until the 20th maybe beyond that. Original release was the 8th.

Panzy, I know you are in the know for these types of things. Any indicators as to why? From what I know, Samsung is "ready" and it passed 4G testing with flying colors. Has the GPS issue surfaced? The unit I used locked right on to a solid location, so I am not sure that could be it.

What level would you consider the Samsung Intercept?

It's nice to know that we have people that are informed.

That's like every release.

Why is everyone being completely rude? I think there needs to be a new thread because the disscusion turned into a flame war. I thought this form was suppose to be full of "mature" adults with me bring the least mature.

What level would you consider the Samsung Intercept?

Low level. I would take a moment over the intercept. I honestly would take a newer phone comparable to the moment if there was one, but until then Ill be sticking to my broken pre.

REALLY? Does that perhaps mean the Epic will get possibly different 4G reception than the Evo? (Not necessarily better or worse- just different.)

Well, let's put it this way, I was able to lock in on a 4G tower in seconds, like 10... with the Evo, it would almost take up to 2-3 minutes to get a signal. I think it's been tweaked in the latest OTA / Froyo release but prior to that it was a PAIN to test 4G when developing a ROM. You weren't sure if you broke / fixed 4G due to it's spotty signal strength (I am in Philly where it's a SOLID connection to 4G outside).

So just to throw more fuel on the fire. Earlier SamsungmobileUS tweeted that androidforums.com was having a "great discussion on the epic4G". I went to that forum right after they tweeted that, and the first thread was one speculating that the release date was August 11th. Now I am being hopeful (because, seriously, we have nothing real to go on, why not be just a little bit hopeful?) but that almost seems like a hint from samsung. I mean, they've been saying for weeks now that the epic is just around the corner, and they've recently shut their mouth about it, suggesting either sprint told them to hush, or it's been delayed.

If they were just told to shush, then this could be their subtle way of pointing us in the right direction :p

Did they have any threads that were filled with "great discussion on the epic4G" *BESIDES* release date speculation threads?

We're all on such a single-track mindset right now, I can't blame you for reading into that question, but all they said was great discussion on the phone, not great discussion on release date. ;)

The part that bugs me the most? We don't even know when they'll announce a release date, so I keep having to check websites for news.

I did look at the other threads. A good 65+% of the ones on the first page were all about release and/or pre-order date rumors/speculation. There was one calling the secrecy behind the release date idiocy. Pretty much the only threads that weren't about release dates were things like asking where to buy 32gig micro sd cards, or asking if the epic was a world phone.

Just seems to me that since most of the discussion going on there was about the release date, if it was "wrong" information, why would samsung point us to it and call it a good discussion?

Posts with the recent activity get moved to the top, which mean that when Samsung tweeted it, it was very likely a different topic was at the top that they were referring to. Maybe they just like to screw with our heads.

So I was just at a Sprint store and the guy said it was coming out on Wednesday. I had talked to the manager a couples days before and he said he didn't know, so one of them is wrong.

Am I the only one tired of these kind of posts?

I just don't understand how someone can say that it is coming out in two days if they don't already have a box of them in the back.
