Aug 11th "Official" Release Date?

I think Sprint is loving all the hype. You can't by this kind of publicity. In a way all of us bloggers are advertising this phone for them.
That said. If it is coming out this weekend. That would mean the Sprint corp stores should be getting some live demo's to learn the product like any day then. One would think????

I highly doubt it will come out this weekend, although I would HOPE we would have a release date by then.

My guess... someone copied off a sheet wrong. You'd be amazed at how many people don't understand the RAM vs ROM thing.

OK - I called back that same Sprint store and another woman answered and promised me that they would be selling the Epic tomorrow. They are coming in tomorrow morning and they've already been trained on it, she said. Man, this sort of mis-information is insane. I am going to go in there tomorrow regardless and find this woman!

They told you that because they are tired of people calling. According to Sprint in my area (New York City) it will be available within a week.

That was your second mistake. Your first was calling them in the first place. We will know on this forum when the phone is coming out way before any retail store person knows, or telesales, or Sprint.com, or any other retail outlet actually. They really do just guess and make up dates.

It's so bizarre. She kept telling me, "Yeah, tomorrow is Aug 11, that's when we are launching these. I promise." So stupid. I'm almost done with Sprint. Maybe I should just wait until Verizon releases the iPhone in December. But that's another whole thread of speculations...

I called 3 different Sprint stores and all said they weren't expecting any shipments...in fact the guys that train haven't received their models (usually two weeks b4 the actual release)

Just talked to guy over the phone in Sprint's sales dept they said it would not be out until Sept 15th, redialed the CS number talked to someone else said the exact samething, Sept 15th and there were suppose to be e-mails sent out today? I haven't got anything in either of my inboxes signed up with 2 different e-mails just to make sure.

Sorry. Spirnt first level CS is THE least credible source. If they knew it was coming in four days they would say in four or five weeks weeks. If they don't know they are going to say in five weeks too. Equally possible is that they are confused as to teh phoen if you don;t give them a sku they typically mix up handsets. They are the least expert source you can find

The average timing of FCC to market for Sprint lately puts Epic slightly less than two weeks away.

Powerman is new, but given the pic, and the FCC timing, I give it a reasonable high credibility,much higher than anything I have seen on these boards yet.

You don't know me from adam, maybe my wife has her own account not under me for certain reasons that maybe none of your business but what you think makes no difference to me. I like getting phones at best buy for my wife, she wanted to keep her old plan since she and her mother are on it together.

We know you don't work for Sprint. You are on sprint users asking the most basic quesitons when not engaging in trolling (anyone can look at your endless nasty posts in your post history there). I agree. It isn't the first time for Sprint or any of the carriers either. You frequently don't know for certain until someone posts the actual screen shot of installed and available from the device itself.

Sprint stopped that MIR leak situation with the Pre. Since then, high end devices haven't been included in the fine print to avoid this type of problem.

FYI sometimes the device isn't even on the MIR form. When I sent in my 800w rebates the day the thing hit the stores the device wasn't even listed on the existing form yet. Still got the rebate.

I think they'll announce the 21st as the launch day tomorrow. Something has to be happening on the 11th...hopefully some sort of news.
