Auto restart issue since Pie update

Noticed something odd since the update regarding auto restart. On Oreo, I had my phone restart once a week without issue. Now on Pie, when the phone restarts, I have to enter my lock code to continue the unlock/reboot process. Because the process hasn't completed, my alarms are non functional as are other apps. This wasn't the case on Oreo. When I woke up in the morning, I still had to enter the code, but alarm and other notifications still worked.

Mine still works after pie update. The unlock process after a restart is the same as Oreo, its for security reasons. It definitely shouldn't be affecting your alarms though. The phone should be fully booted up regardless of when you unlock it.

The process after restart is different on my phone than on Oreo. On Oreo, upon restart, I'd enter the unlock code and the phone would instantly be ready to use. On Pie, after entering the unlock code, I get a black screen with a picture of a lock and a multi colored rotating ring around the lock. After 20 to 30 seconds the home screen will come up and the phone is ready to use.

Finally figured this out. There is a setting on the phone called "Secure Startup". On my phone it was on by default. With it active, when the phone is restarted, it's encrypted until the unlock code is entered. While encrypted, you cannot receive calls, messages, notifications and alarms will not sound.

Thank you! Mine did this last night and if I wasn't having trouble sleeping I would not have seen it and then missed my alarm and missed my flight!
