really HTC sync didnt take care of that?

when it went to bootloader were you unplugging the phone?

Please post our warnings, and credits (mainly the links back to the GPL licensed source, thats all I Really care about) in the OP.

As in
[ROOT] Unlock Bootloader + Permroot 3/19/2011 - xda-developers

Nice work, downloading to take a peek, if all looks 110% solid I will be recommending it.

thanks, fixing it up now sorry for dragging my feet on the credits.

its pretty much the same as the method posted in AP.
a couple bugs that i need to fix that have to do with adb connection. im working on having it autodetect adb connection and loop until the connection is made.

also i will be adding in the clear command at certain points to make it cleaner.

and i need a way to do some if exist commands on the phone if its possible

Here's another link for HTC Sync. The second link was talking really long and wouldn't completely download: HTC Sync
Thanks again for this awesomeness!!!!

you have a connection problem, is HTC sync installed, are you using ports on the back of computer, is it set to debugging mode, and stay awake, is it set to Charge only

i'm only on the first step, when the guide says it will ask if you want to update after checking pd05img. i don't get that option it just goes back to the bootloader main screen. what do i do?

software downgrade... what does this mean?

[warn]The method of rooting your Android device as described in the article herein is solely for enthusiasts and not for the faint of heart.

IT WILL WIPE YOUR DATA. IT WILL WIPE YOUR DATA. IT WILL WIPE YOUR DATA.

Android Police, Android Central, Team AndIRC and myself disclaim all liability for any harm that may befall your device, including, but not limited to: bricked phones, voided manufacturer warranties, exploding batteries, etc.

Download times maybe rather long, root includes OS downgrade and upgrade images.[/warn]

[info]USB driver download (All are the same):
Tip: For best results use USB ports in the back of the computer. [/info]

Auto Root
  • Download Auto root
  • Unzip to anywhere on computer
  • Activate debugging mode and stay awake (below USB debugging)
  • Set the phone to Charge only
  • Open TB_Auto_root Folder
  • Double click Start unroot
  • Follow prompted directions carefully

Auto root:

[tip]
Remember the following:
  • HTC sync installed
  • Use USB ports in the back of the computer(adb only officially supports the first primary USB port -- these are all in the back of the computer, and slower/older computers often have problems using a different one)
  • Activate debugging mode and stay awake (below USB debugging)
  • Phone in charge only mode
  • When the process looks like its hanging its actually writing the file to your sd card so be patient
  • READ the directions carefully.
  • After root is done restart the phone.
[/tip]

*******************************************************************************************

[warn]When using automated methods carefully read all instruction provided by prompt before proceeding. This method will unroot you and return you to stock with S-on. Neither Android Central or I are responsible for anything that you do to your phone.[/warn]

Auto Unroot
  • Download Auto unroot
  • Unzip to anywhere on computer
  • Activate debugging mode and stay awake (below USB debugging)
  • Set the phone to Charge only
  • Open TB_Auto_unroot Folder
  • Double click Start unroot
  • Follow prompted directions carefully

If I missed anyone in the credits, it was unintentional and I will fix it as soon as Jcase lets me know who else should be added. Lots of people had their hands in on this project.

Modeled and adapted after the original method here.

software downgrade... what does this mean? Can we upgrade?

i'm only on the first step, when the guide says it will ask if you want to update after checking pd05img. i don't get that option it just goes back to the bootloader main screen. what do i do?

Unplug the USB cable from your computer. (if you don't, that's okay,
you'll just see Windows pop up some errors as you continue below.)
Bootloader should be highlighted in blue - Press the power to execute. The screen will change and Fastboot will be selected. Around 10 seconds later
it will then proceed to the next step.
You should see several files loaded and checked.Don't freak at the warnings.
The screen will eventually clear and you will see "checking pd05img.zip."
Eventually, you will be asked: Do you want to start update?
Press the volume up button to say yes.
Once you do, you will see a progress bar in the upper right corner
and a bunch of stuff going on in the middle.Be Patient and let it do its thing.
Press power to reboot.
It might actually power down (vs. reboot) at this step.
If your screen goes back for more than 30-seconds, try powering back on.
Once Sense is booted up, unlock your screen to enter the setup wizard.
Hit Next - Skip - Skip Setup - Next - Next - Next - Finish
Then hit the menu capacitive button -
settings - applications - development - check USB debugging - then click Ok
Plug the Thunderbolt into your computer.
Swipe down on notification panel.
Make sure its in "Charge Only" mode, if not select it and hit done
If all above conditions

software downgrade... what does this mean? Can we upgrade?

in order to root with security off it needs to down_grade software, then after that you need to upgrade again.

the script does this, it temp roots, then kicks you into bootloader where you flash the downgrade,,,then it temp roots the downgrade, kicks you back into bootloader where you flash the upgrade and then you are rooted permenantly

oh i read that wrong, can you copy and past the first section of the command prompt screen here

i don't get this option : "Eventually, you will be asked: Do you want to start update?
Press the volume up button to say yes."
